Thanks Adriaan - I have changed the registry setting and rebooting seems to help.
"Your computer is low on memory" when its clearly not
This problem started when i upgraded from windows 8 to windows 8.1
When i run a game, for example, Arma3 randomly throughout my game i'll be thrown back to windows desktop and presented with a message saying "Your computer is low on memory. Save your files and close these programs: 'Game name here'"
Screenshot Here
As you can see from the above screenshot i have 2.6gb in use and 5.3 free, so why does it think its out of memory?
I have set my pagefile from "system managed" to 16gb initial - 24gb max
This made no difference whatsoever..
My hardware has not changed, Like i said i noticed this almost instantly after upgrading to 8.1
Any help would be appreciated because as far as i'm aware theres no way to revert back to 8 from 8.1?
Thanks

2013-11-12T23:25:58+00:00 I have a similar issue. Exact same error. The game is "Elemental: Fallen Sorceress", it's launched through Steam. On a Surface Pro 2 128GB, the game uses only 500-600 MB RAM. According to Ressource Monitor, total RAM in use on the machine is about 2-2.3 GB when the pop up shows up. A lot more than 1 GB RAM is unused when the pop up appears, usually there's almost 2 GB RAM free (1.5 GB Standby, .5 GB Free).
There's no memory leak issue, otherwise the memory would be in use by the leaking process. In the Resource Monitor I can see that the memory was at no time anywhere near critical. Since the Resource Monitor takes snapshots every seconds, I could only imagine that the application allocates the memory for a few milliseconds and frees it afterwards.
There are no errors in the event viewer error logs at the times this happens.

2013-12-08T20:54:45+00:00 I have had the same issue. Happens on multiple games. Path of Exile, Metro 2033, Darksiders and a few more. The message box doesn't kick me out of the game but still bothers me it is popping up when there should be plenty of memory.
