What the F is wrong with Microsoft? We earn you billings of $, and are treated like prisoners with your forced updates that we are not allowed to decline. You know... YOU ARE F.... NG FIRED! I am starting a commo with all of my Army buddies, college classmates, and whoever I learn is using your system. Small to the giant corp. pu..ies, but every little bit helps push change.
Forced Windows 8.1 Update
This morning a blue banner appeared on my screen asking me when I wanted to restart my computer to continue to download the update to Win 8.1 (I have Windows 8). At no time did I start the download process. I selected "Remind me later" from the drop down. A few minutes later, the download started, and the drop down only allowed me to select a time period to restart my computer (Now, 1 hour, 2 hours, 4 hours)!. I was committed, and I never authorized this! So I selected "Now" just to see what would happen. I went to the Windows Store and lo and behold the update was downloading. The update failed (I got an error 0xC1900101). I disabled the update notification reminder using regedit (I was sick of seeing it every time I powered down my computer anyway)-but how could this happen? This looked like a legitimate Windows notification.

2016-01-19T03:22:17+00:00 I am barely getting a bit of a hang to on 8 and now I'm forced to upgrade to 8.1 against my will. No wonder my computer went nuts last week - but I have tried installing / upgrading four times and after wasting tremendous amounts of time and losing computer access simultaneously, the damned thing says failure to install and wastes another half hour or so uninstalling the junk it installed. I'm so very tired of this. I did tech support for nearly thirty years for a living. I do not want to be wasting my personal time on this garbage that gets more unintelligible every day.

2016-01-19T03:33:49+00:00 So, now that it is past 12 January 2016, and I cannot receive any more upgrades, how the heck am I supposed to fix this piece of utter fecal matter?

Don't you people who supposedly do not work for Microsoft have anything better to do than troll around looking for folks who do not appreciate anything about 8 and shove their noses into their own posts in ancient or recent same or other threads?
