I somehow installed 2862330 on 3 PCs running windows 7 SP1 64-bit+MSE with no problem whatsoever. Also, they all had 2533552 installed back in May. What information can I provide that may help?

Thanks for the info Cameron.  That info supports one of the working theories, which is that people without 2533552 are hitting the problem.

Anyone who has 2533552 and still hit problems, we would love to see the log files off your machine.  Susan provided a list of what we need in post #62.

    Here's my CBS log:

Seagate Tools reported Short Drive Self Test passed.

    Specs:

Note: download to view this, it's in htm format and when you try to view it on Skydrive it displays only as code.

I go to %windir%\logs\cbs\ and try to drag (or copy/paste) the cbs.log file and I get the error:

"You don't have appropriate permission to perform this operation"

I have tried running explorer.exe as administrator and I still get the same message.

    Sorry.
