FYI, some known issues have been posted here.

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2862330/EN-US

Ben, the symptoms of my problem are different than one described in the article you point out.  As I said in a previous post (see below).  Any hint you can provide me?  Shall I try to apply update again but disconnect all USB devices first?  Including getting a wired keyboard and mouse?

Thanks in advance for all help

"Hello, I have also issue with KB2862330, however rather than BSOD I hit the problem that my USB system was not working anymore (including wireless keyboard and mouse).  A System Restore fixed the problem.

If useful the system is an OEM one with an Intel board DZ77SL-50K

Also and with reference to previous posts, I have KB2533552 installed on my system.

Now I have hidden the update, and I am awaitng for a fix by Microsoft. Any news on this?"

    Very good post Ben Herila.

    We all need to monitor:

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2862330/EN-US

for the latest guesses and botches from Microsoft.

At this moment I guess that no Microsoft consumer who has a computer which still works could possibly understand the "More Information ... Known Issues with this Security Update".

The consumer world needs detailed instruction on how to recover from this series of ludicrous Microsoft Updates to USB device drivers.

Okay, the current USB device encryption virus is really scary.

Do backup you computer to external media. Do not rely on just one backup.

Can you please elaborate on "Okay, the current USB device encryption virus is really scary." Which one is this, any pointer to articles on it?

    Thanks in advance.

I've had the same problem with XP Pro SP3. Have tried everything I could in this forum and nothing works. Is there a way to simply bypass this update. How do I do that?
