'October 2013 Update For Root Certificate for Windows XP ' KB 931125 Installed

The specific program installed was Piriform Defraggler Version 2.14.706 Copyright 2007-2013 (it looks similar to XP's built-in Defragmenter).

The only trace of it was in a folder under Program Files called 'Defraggler 2.14' with a yellow 'Lang' folder and 9 files including: Defrag.exe, Defrag Config Settings, Defraggler64, DefragglerShell64.dll, Defraggler.dll, df, df64, License, and Portable.dat but no uninstall-related file.

A responder at the Defraggler Forum stated that, based on the existence of the Portable.dat file, the 'portable no-install' version of the software was unzipped, which would explain why it is not listed under 'Add/Remove Programs' or listed under 'Programs' on the Start menu. He also mentioned that it was released in April of last year, so obviously it is legitimate software. The folder would be the only trace of the software and it was safe to delete the entire folder.

Since the Fix-It Tool' ended up being useless (but thank you for suggesting it), can I delete the icon that I saved to the desktop? Do I have to delete any other traces of it or would the Desktop icon be the only location?

The product code you were referring to is a so called string GUID.

Once again though, Windows provides a defragmenter tool and you don't need to install a third party version.

Open the Recycle Bin, find the Defraggler folder you deleted, right click it and choose "Restore" from the  menu. Windows wil  automatically replace it in the same location you deleted it from.

Do the same with the shortcuts you deleted.

"Portable" means the application doesn't install. Since it doesn't install, there won't be a folder called Defraggler which you can delete in Program Files. Since there is (or was before you deleted it) you don't have the portable version.

As regards the script, you need to read what it says on the site. So when it says "Download the zip File where you get the Script and use it as per the instructions below", that's what you have to do.

The Defraggler folder is not in the Recycle Bin anymore-I deleted it yesterday after a moderator at Pirisoft said that only the folder needs to be deleted since that is the only trace of it-He said that it never installed so there would be no other traces.

In this case, should I still run the Script on the off-chance that there 'is' still a trace in the Registry or elsewhere?

Regarding the FixIt tool from yesterday, you still have not said whether deleting the desktop icon will delete the tool or if I have to delete it from elsewhere as well?
