Do I want to 'run' or 'save' the script and can this still be done even though I deleted the 'Defraggler' folder and there does not seem to be any other trace of it since it was a Portable file that was not actually uninstalled or ever 'run?'

Since the Fix-It Tool' ended up being useless (but thank you for suggesting it), can I delete the icon that I saved to the desktop? Do I have to delete any other traces of this tool or would the Desktop icon be the only location?

The specific program installed was Piriform Defraggler Version 2.14.706 Copyright 2007-2013 (it looks similar to XP's built-in Defragmenter).

The only trace of it was in a folder under Program Files called 'Defraggler 2.14' with a yellow 'Lang' folder and 9 files including: Defrag.exe, Defrag Config Settings, Defraggler64, DefragglerShell64.dll, Defraggler.dll, df, df64, License, and Portable.dat but no uninstall-related file.

A responder at the Defraggler Forum stated that, based on the existence of the Portable.dat file, the 'portable no-install' version of the software was unzipped, which would explain why it is not listed under 'Add/Remove Programs' or listed under 'Programs' on the Start menu. He also mentioned that it was released in April of last year, so obviously it is legitimate software. The folder would be the only trace of the software and it was safe to delete the entire folder.

The product code you were referring to is a so called string GUID.

Once again though, Windows provides a defragmenter tool and you don't need to install a third party version.

You mention that you can see Defraggler in Program Files. Check to see whether you can also see a file called "uninst000.exe" or possibly just "uninstall.exe".

Either of those should uninstall it for you.

I was wondering if you'd like to volunteer to run the Fixit uninstaller so that you might be able to determine what that "Product Code" which Shopper mentioned is all about?

I can't run it on 8.1 because it's not supported. But I ran it on XP back in the days when I was using that but never saw any mention or request for a "Product Code".
