'October 2013 Update For Root Certificate for Windows XP ' KB 931125 Installed

I think it was a glitch with the XP Update-I just thought you might have had experience with an old update being re-offered even though a newer update was already installed.

I uninstalled MSE so there is no need to do anything regarding the update with the error message.However, I checked BITS again and it is still listed as 'BITS' and the service still shows as 'Started.'

I am having problems uninstalling Defraggler using Windows XP-It is not listed under Add/Remove Programs or in the 'Start' menu. In fact, the only place it is listed (and the only way that I even knew that it was installed) is under 'Program Files' in Windows Explorer but there is no 'Uninstall' file there. How do I uninstall it?

Would it have been pre-installed with Windows XP and I had just never noticed it before, would it have been installed automatically when I installed another program, or would I have had to manually install it at some point?

In my Windows Update History, there was an Error Code 0x80246008 for KB 2310138 (Definition: 1.169.671.0)-Is this related to MSE, XP, IE, or is it another type of Update? I was having issues with MSE so I uninstalled it and installed AVG Free again.

I noticed that 'Defraggler' is listed under 'Program Files' but I have never used it.

Was it pre-installed with Windows XP, was it installed automatically when I installed another program, or would I have manually installed it at some point?

I use the built-in Defragmenter so I have no need for both Defragmenter and Defraggler-Is one better than the other and can Defraggler be uninstalled without causing any issues?

I don't remember what the XP update site URL is so I can't check that I'm afraid. All 8.1 updates are handled via Windows Control Panel so there's no need to use IE anymore.

MSE definition updates are all released as KB2310138 regardless of release date. The error code however seems to relate to BITS again: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/956706

Defraggler is made by Piriform. Same company that makes CCleaner. If you don't use it, go to Add/Remove Programs and uninstall it from there.

Since you won't answer my questions, I have no idea why the Nov-13 Root Certificates update was offered to your computer (again).

As for KB2310138, what does http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2310138 say it is? [KB2310138 was released on 12 October 2011!]

The two (2) threads you cited are QUESTION threads. In fact, all but one of your threads have been QUESTION threads.

Every Defrag utility has its own opinion of what a properly defragged drive should look like. Pick one & stick with it.  [Hint: The built-in Defrag tool was built by the folks who build WinXP.]
