Windows 8.1: WiFi dropping and/or "Limited"

Since installing 8.1 Pro, I'm having issues with WiFi dropping internet connectivity and always showing "Limited" when clicking on the system tray icon.  When I troubleshoot the problem using the system tool it is always the gateway that is faulty.  I have uninstalled/reinstalled the device drivers several times, installed the newest drivers directly from Intel, restarted the computer, etc.  I can restore connectivity by turning WiFi off then back on, but the connection will drop at what seems to be random intervals.  My applicable system specs are as follows;

Lenovo Y510P  Laptop

Windows 8.1 Pro

Intel Centrino Wireless-N 2230

Apple Time Capsule router w/newest firmware

Needless to say this is quite an irritating bug that didn't exist prior to the update to 8.1  I hope this can be resolved quickly. Thanks!

    I am having the same problem, dropping offline with 'limited' message.

    Windows 8.1

    Samsung laptop

    Microsoft has messed up again.

    Start a new thread and post the link here to get help. List what you have done and include the data from runngin this

    Window key + x > command prompt (admin) > type ipconfig and include the data from your wireless adapter.

    Then in the window run these three replacing the first one with an IP address e.g.,192.168.1.1

    ping (default gateway from ipconfig/router IP)

    ping 8.8.8.8

    ping bing.com

    I also had the same problem. I tried everything! So the only thing left was to set my wireless router back to factory settings and see what happens.......IT WORKED!  No more wi-fi dropping or limited!

    I upgraded to Windows 8.1 and Wifi worked fine - UNTIL I followed the advice of the little balloon in the lower right to upgrade my Intel wireless drivers. Clicking the balloon led to a page on Intel which had a driver for 32-bit windows. I blindly tried that, but it wouldn't install and instead I got the message to use the driver for 64-bit windows. OK, so I downloaded that and when I tried to run it I got an Intel icon and then it quit.

    That driver wasn't the latest anyway, I discovered today via a Google search. So I downloaded version 17.0.1405.02. That installed, and at the moment I'm able to reach the Internet quickly without even restarting Windows. Let's hope this continues...

    Hi all,

    I think most of you guys might have solved the issue by now.

    If not - I personally found running this command: netsh winsock reset  

    This has kept my wifi connection stable  lenovo G505s for last 2 days

    Run the command(CMD) as administrator before typing the command. Also you would need to restart the machine.
