Windows 8.1: WiFi dropping and/or "Limited"

Since installing 8.1 Pro, I'm having issues with WiFi dropping internet connectivity and always showing "Limited" when clicking on the system tray icon.  When I troubleshoot the problem using the system tool it is always the gateway that is faulty.  I have uninstalled/reinstalled the device drivers several times, installed the newest drivers directly from Intel, restarted the computer, etc.  I can restore connectivity by turning WiFi off then back on, but the connection will drop at what seems to be random intervals.  My applicable system specs are as follows;

Lenovo Y510P  Laptop

Windows 8.1 Pro

Intel Centrino Wireless-N 2230

Apple Time Capsule router w/newest firmware

Needless to say this is quite an irritating bug that didn't exist prior to the update to 8.1  I hope this can be resolved quickly. Thanks!

    The updates include third party software that the manufacture is responsible to fix. If you read the fixes people have it is pretty clear it has nothing to do with the OS. And its not about protecting Microsoft it is about placing blame where it should be so the problem will get fixed.

    My laptop is barely a month old....every other device in our house connects without issue.

    I've worked with the laptop manufacturer, the internet provider for many hours, still this wireless laptop will ONLY connect occasionally for a very short time and then drops the connection.  It is NOT my router, it is NOT the internet provider....it is Windows 8.1.

    Does Microsoft have a solution?  It appears that there are many very unhappy users...surely someone in your company has found a way to correct this.  I hope to hear from a Microsoft engineer very soon.

    This is an old thread with over 48 pages you would have better luck with your own. Microsoft can't help you because they don't directly handle WiFi. They have standards that they require and then the manufactures make the drivers to run thief hardware. It can be your router even though it works for other devices if could not conform to standards that are enforced in 8.1. You can check if it is compatible with 8.1 on microsofts web site. But I would start a new thread to get better help

    Make sure you are up to date.  I had problems that none of the solutions listed on this site seemed to eliminate.  Slowly the problems started going away as every new clandestine update got added.  I haven't had a dropped connection in at least a couple of weeks.
