Windows 8.1: WiFi dropping and/or "Limited"

Since installing 8.1 Pro, I'm having issues with WiFi dropping internet connectivity and always showing "Limited" when clicking on the system tray icon.  When I troubleshoot the problem using the system tool it is always the gateway that is faulty.  I have uninstalled/reinstalled the device drivers several times, installed the newest drivers directly from Intel, restarted the computer, etc.  I can restore connectivity by turning WiFi off then back on, but the connection will drop at what seems to be random intervals.  My applicable system specs are as follows;

Lenovo Y510P  Laptop

Windows 8.1 Pro

Intel Centrino Wireless-N 2230

Apple Time Capsule router w/newest firmware

Needless to say this is quite an irritating bug that didn't exist prior to the update to 8.1  I hope this can be resolved quickly. Thanks!

    Hi All,

    I am not sure if any of you have attempted this, or if it has already been posted but here goes.

    I have been experiancing a the same issue as all of you and i found when using ipconfig that the IPv6 protocol was superseding the IPv4 protocols.

    I checked my router and realised that it isn't IPv6 compatible. (Brain Wave then started!)

    I then accessed the adapters settings ( Start - Control Panel - Network and Internet - Network and Sharing Center) then on the right hand side there is an option "Change Adapter Settings" from here if you disable (untick) the IPV6 protocol then the connection will be stable and work as it should!

    I had seen that suggestion elsewhere and tried it to no avail.  I've also seen folks recommending setting your wireless adapter to static DNS IP address, but that didn't work for me either!  :-)

    I have this problem too - just started happening with Windows 8.1. Last year I was "blackmailed" by Microsoft to "resolve" another problem. Paid their £99 and, after hours of fiddling was told they couldn't fix it, just had to reinstall the original OS!

    Their "support" is absolutely DREADFUL. This problem is NOT a router problem (we've another 2 Windows 7 machines, 2 iPhones and 2 iPads connecting perfectly). It is a Microsoft bug.

    The really annoying thing is their condescending attitude. I've got over 40 years IT experience. I've written 4 successful software products and actually know how to program, yet they keep trying to tell me I need to be "qualified" and "trained" by them. Perhaps they should be a bit humble and pay me to train them!

    Mine is Thinkpad E440 with Windows 8.1 and Intel Wireless N 7260 having disconnect and limited connection issue. 

    Yesterday i realized that Wifi driver from intel is released with version 17.0.2.5 which is in the update description is fixed the disconnection issues. 

    I reinstall my Laptop with Windows 8.1 and install the latest driver for Wifi to 17.0.2.5 from Lenovo site and my problem is solved! I have posted many questions in Intel and Lenovo forums and finally Intel and Lenovo support solved this problem.

    I got 2 days stable connection after fresh install of Windows 8.1 with the latest driver and hopefully for the future. Will keep you posted.

    Yo con el mismo problema en un Acer Aspire E1-571G

    y después de volverme loco

    por ahora como lo he podido solucionar es descargando el controlador de la página oficial de ACER, el que es para el sistema operacitvo WINDOWS 8 64 (tengo Windows 8.1 64). He desisntalado el controlador que tenía, y he instalado la versión 6.30.59.20 de Broadcom de 27/06/2012

    Si hay algún cambio, ya lo haré saber
