Since installing 8.1 Pro, I'm having issues with WiFi dropping internet connectivity and always showing "Limited" when clicking on the system tray icon. When I troubleshoot the problem using the system tool it is always the gateway that is faulty. I have uninstalled/reinstalled the device drivers several times, installed the newest drivers directly from Intel, restarted the computer, etc. I can restore connectivity by turning WiFi off then back on, but the connection will drop at what seems to be random intervals. My applicable system specs are as follows;
Lenovo Y510P Laptop
Windows 8.1 Pro
Intel Centrino Wireless-N 2230
Apple Time Capsule router w/newest firmware
Needless to say this is quite an irritating bug that didn't exist prior to the update to 8.1 I hope this can be resolved quickly. Thanks!

It is incredible if you have a new PC and experience "this issue" (which may in fact be several, giving similar result...) OK, I hope you report the problem to vendor support, in order to put pressure on solving it that way. We, who have older PCs and the same type of issues, will definitely not have the same impact on MS...

It was too bad that this is Windows 8.1 issues and also happen in Windows 8.
I just tried to clean install Windows 8 to see whether the wifi still having 'limited' and keep dropping every 5-10 seconds.
And the problem persist! When using ubuntu / linuxmint, wifi is work flawlessly. I don't think we must do some 'tricks' to make wifi worked, that's not my way. It should be run without our configuration like another OS before 8.
Microsoft and Intel, if you read this please sort out this thing. It's too long. Even the latest driver 17.0.0 which just released 10 days ago can do nothing. Sigh..

All the so called fixes (e.g. Power settings, Wi-Fi Device Driver updates...) are all BUNK!
Both windows 8.0 and now Windows 8.1 drops Wi-Fi connection, generally at random times and even when the computer is streaming a Sky program!
I have a second laptop running Windows 7 on the exact same router and that never drops out and my updated Sony VAIO never used to drop out when it was previously on Windows 7!!!
Microsoft need to address this issue and stop fobbing folks off with standard rhetoric!
Linux is looking mighty tempting just now!
Having looked around the forum, there are numerous threads on this subject. Sadly I have the same issue.
My new (at xmas) ASUS R510C has the same. Drops out every thre or four minutes.
On the same router (Orange.fr) we have another Laptop running W7 no issues, rock solid. As are 1x iPad, 2x iPhones, my old XP PC and a wi-fi Radio.
Only the 8.1 suffers, so it has to be 8.1 specific.
I hope a 'fix' comes soon, or I will need to explain why I have 'launched' my cimbo pressie through the window, grr!
i know as i have just installed windows 8.1 the easiest way to fix this usally is to restart if this does not work in the corner of your start screnn press on you name or id and press sign out when you get to the lock screen look for the power option in the right corner of your screen then there should be an option witch says restart and install update press that and after it is done log back in and it should work.
PS:To check if your internet is working with out opening a browser go to your desktop and find the wifi connection bars hover your mouse over it it should say (your internet connection name) internet access. if it says only internet access then it wont work it must your internet name. :)
