Windows 8.1: WiFi dropping and/or "Limited"

Since installing 8.1 Pro, I'm having issues with WiFi dropping internet connectivity and always showing "Limited" when clicking on the system tray icon.  When I troubleshoot the problem using the system tool it is always the gateway that is faulty.  I have uninstalled/reinstalled the device drivers several times, installed the newest drivers directly from Intel, restarted the computer, etc.  I can restore connectivity by turning WiFi off then back on, but the connection will drop at what seems to be random intervals.  My applicable system specs are as follows;

Lenovo Y510P  Laptop

Windows 8.1 Pro

Intel Centrino Wireless-N 2230

Apple Time Capsule router w/newest firmware

Needless to say this is quite an irritating bug that didn't exist prior to the update to 8.1  I hope this can be resolved quickly. Thanks!

    Hi.

    I have been on the forum reading the replies, and trying them out to see if they work.  There are so many good suggestions!  But the only solution for me was to go to to Device Manager; Network Adapters; open your router, click Power Management tab.  If the box "Allow the computer to turn off device to save power" is checked, uncheck the box, click "okay".  For 2 days I have had a stable connection without drops to Limited, so I hope this continues to work.

    Thank you DarksideHop12! The link to the intel support site detected a new driver that my windows system was not picking up. Easy install and it fixed my connection issues. For the past 2 weeks I had nothing but problems with the WIFI disconnecting every 1-20 minutes. Thank you for your information regarding the fix.

    This is not helpful.

    Note: I have a macbook pro connected on the same network and the wifi is not dropping constantly unlike my machine on Windows 8.1

    So the problem is not the network...

    Hi all.

    I to have this issue.  I'm now bald as I have been pulling out my hair trying to fix it.  Yes I have done everything suggested on this site and elsewhere on the net.  Everything is up to date, wmm disabled.  I have a further complication as my Vaio is my only means of communication and I'm travelling with my wife and young family for the next 10 Months.  Thus I can't revert back to win 8.  Thinking of using the sony as a dinner plate.  It would be more useful.  Until I tried.......

    ......this.  I have just tried changing the network card channel from the defaut 1 to 3.  So far the computer is stable and signal strength strong.  Surely the solution couldn't be that simple, however it looks promising.
