Windows 8.1: WiFi dropping and/or "Limited"

Since installing 8.1 Pro, I'm having issues with WiFi dropping internet connectivity and always showing "Limited" when clicking on the system tray icon.  When I troubleshoot the problem using the system tool it is always the gateway that is faulty.  I have uninstalled/reinstalled the device drivers several times, installed the newest drivers directly from Intel, restarted the computer, etc.  I can restore connectivity by turning WiFi off then back on, but the connection will drop at what seems to be random intervals.  My applicable system specs are as follows;

Lenovo Y510P  Laptop

Windows 8.1 Pro

Intel Centrino Wireless-N 2230

Apple Time Capsule router w/newest firmware

Needless to say this is quite an irritating bug that didn't exist prior to the update to 8.1  I hope this can be resolved quickly. Thanks!

    A tech from Microsoft told me that the solution is to change your network adapter settings (for IPv4) to set a manual DNS Server Address.  I switched from Obtain DNS Server Address Automatically to using my ISP's server address and it has worked perfectly since (5 days now).  Microsoft's call centre actually had my ISP's DNS server address handy so it seems they've been applying this solution quite a lot!

    Unfortunately this was their solution for my laptop also, so I'm not sure what will happen when I use a network with a different ISP...

    This seems like a clumsy workaround, so I am still hoping Microsoft will actually fix this problem properly soon.

    Stop saying this. It is NOT a hardware problem. I'm sitting on a brand new Acer Aspire S7-392. Same s*** as everyone else has. Windows 7 and Windows 8 plain works like a charm, 8.1 turnes this otherwise kick-**** laptop into junk. I've tried a thousand drivers but still it seems like only 1 of 10 GET requests gets through while (TRYING) to browse the web.

    Static DNS seems to solve everything (although stupid on a laptop) - if I don't come back to complain more within 4 days, it did.

    Absolutely right this is NOT a hardware fault it is WINDOWS 8.1 UPDATE END OF!

    And Static DNS is not the cure, take the laptop somewhere else and it wont work.

    My laptop is only a few months old and 8.1 has turned it in to a POS it was brilliant before the update.

    And still nothing from M$ on here not even to say sorry but we are working on the problem, because they don't want to admit that there is a problem and a BIG problem at that, they don't give a ****

    Is this forum not monitored?

    This is why companies don't respond in forums since someone decides he needs to prove his lack of intelligence and swear and type in caps. Great job for proving you know nothing. While for some people it is a software issue for Win8.1. For others it may be hardware related due the the faulty Intel Centrino line of wifi cards. It has been over 1 year since the issues have been reported and after numerous updates fron Intel there are still issues that seemingly software cannot fix. If you can't use bluetooth and wifi at the same time due to the card coming to a halt that usually means your processor is under powered on the device. So before you spout off swearing and typing in caps do some research.
