Windows 8.1: WiFi dropping and/or "Limited"

Since installing 8.1 Pro, I'm having issues with WiFi dropping internet connectivity and always showing "Limited" when clicking on the system tray icon.  When I troubleshoot the problem using the system tool it is always the gateway that is faulty.  I have uninstalled/reinstalled the device drivers several times, installed the newest drivers directly from Intel, restarted the computer, etc.  I can restore connectivity by turning WiFi off then back on, but the connection will drop at what seems to be random intervals.  My applicable system specs are as follows;

Lenovo Y510P  Laptop

Windows 8.1 Pro

Intel Centrino Wireless-N 2230

Apple Time Capsule router w/newest firmware

Needless to say this is quite an irritating bug that didn't exist prior to the update to 8.1  I hope this can be resolved quickly. Thanks!

    I'm seeing the same issues using a Qualcomm Atheros AR9485. Tried all of the above as well as switching to the most recent qualcomm distro of drivers (rather than what microsoft gives by default)... I've gotten my stability up from a dropping every 15 minutes to about once every 2 hours. Better, but it's still causing a lot of problems.

    I depend on VPN and tunneling for work and every time this happens my tunnels drop and my VPN can get wonky. This is costing me significant time and money - if anybody has any other suggestions or a fix with the above card, please let me know.

    P.S. Microsoft has really damaged any faith I had with them. Constant hounding to upgrade to their poorly QA'ed pos OS with no reliable way of going back. As a quality engineer myself it frustrates the **** out of me. I already have to use Linux for work... maybe it will become my home OS as well.

    Qualcomm Atheros AR9485WB-EG is definitely UNSTABLE in my Asus s300CA with the latest 8.1 update.

    Additionally, the wireless connection is retarted as 5-8mins...???

    and every wifi signal is ticked as "connect automatically" although I didn't do anything like this as you can easily guess... ?

    My driver version is 10.0.0.263 dated 15-Aug-2013 !

    What's going on windows...???

    Have you tried the solution that worked for me by disabling IPv6 and making a change in the power management. Brad that posted the solution had an Asus, so hopefully it will work. I have copied the post below.

    I had the same problem with my new ASUS laptop. I fixed it by going into network settings-adapter settings and unclicking "ipv6" then going into power management for the adapter and unclicking "allow computer to turn this device off to save power." Problem solved.

    I tried to add screen shots but message came up as too long

    But fairly simple

    Click Change adapter settings in Network and sharing Center and clear tick by IPv6

    Then:-

    You can use Device Manager to change the power management settings for a network adapter. To disable this setting in Device Manager, expand Network Adapters, right-click the adapter, click Properties, click the Power Management tab, and then clear the Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power check box.

    I've just been on a web chat with a Tech from Acer.

    I asked the question about disabling iPv6 and he wouldn't commit one way or the other.

    He asked me for my serial number and sent me a link to What he said was the latest driver for my  Intel Centrino wireless-N 105 adapter.

    When I looked at what he had sent it is a  Wireless LAN_Atheros_10.0.0.263_W81x64_A.zip

    Question is would this be compatible with the Intel adapter?

    Really confused now!

    Did you  try resetting you're router or deleting the network profile then re adding it by reconnecting to the network?
