Since installing 8.1 Pro, I'm having issues with WiFi dropping internet connectivity and always showing "Limited" when clicking on the system tray icon. When I troubleshoot the problem using the system tool it is always the gateway that is faulty. I have uninstalled/reinstalled the device drivers several times, installed the newest drivers directly from Intel, restarted the computer, etc. I can restore connectivity by turning WiFi off then back on, but the connection will drop at what seems to be random intervals. My applicable system specs are as follows;
Lenovo Y510P Laptop
Windows 8.1 Pro
Intel Centrino Wireless-N 2230
Apple Time Capsule router w/newest firmware
Needless to say this is quite an irritating bug that didn't exist prior to the update to 8.1 I hope this can be resolved quickly. Thanks!

Thank You Ken Esq...this is very good information to know! I haven't heard of MACs having these types of issues...I would say it has to do with the people I have talked to about it and they don't reveal all of the actual issues that are prevalent.
Good to know...it's really hard to be patient because it's such a simple piece of using the laptop. I deplore using my phone with the little screen when I don't have to and can use the laptop.
Thanks again, your info is very useful!
I agree.
I just looked at uninstalling the update and that is a total nightmare. Sorry to just complain, but I need to and can only hope that MS is listening.
Dear Microsoft,
I have been a huge supporter of MS and debated MAC users indicating the superior nature of MS software. I have always been told by MAC users that they do not have any of the issues that constantly face MS users.
The Windows 8.1 update is EXACTLY what MAC users are referring to. My laptop runs slower, drops internet connection CONSTANTLY and of course changed the views in some of the windows...after I took many hours getting the views set up the way I like...the update changed them.
If this issue persists and MS does not come back soon with a fix...I will buy a MAC and tell every single person I know and meet exactly what happened to change my mind.
Like it says above...Thanks for the "update" Microsoft...time for you to step up and get this fixed.
This is as nice as I can possibly be...I am so pissed I can't see straight!
I have OSX (MacOS), Windows, iOS and Android running here and I can tell you that Macs suffer as many, if not more, bugs when they release a new version. They also stop supporting their operating systems with security patches after about two years (as opposed to 13 with Win XP).
I'm not saying one is better than the other...and would suggest you don't either.
Microsoft needs to acknowledge and fix this issue quickly. I have a feeling it has something to do with the way they communicated with the people creating drivers for their wireless cards.
