Windows 8.1: WiFi dropping and/or "Limited"

Welcome to our world, a year+ of trying various solutions to this pervasive issue since upgrades to Windows 8.1. Commonalities--same old router in most cases, working well on all other Windows OSs except 8.1. No change in location or anything else, but computers w/8.1 have dropping off. So...

After many, many other fix attempts, I finally went into my Device Manager, selected the Network Adapter I’m using, then selected that it was NOT allowed to be turned off to save power.

**That did it.**One of the other fixes may work instead for you, but I’d try this one first. If it's your issue, too, it will save you a lot of frustration. I was getting ready to buy a Mac!

Since installing 8.1 Pro, I'm having issues with WiFi dropping internet connectivity and always showing "Limited" when clicking on the system tray icon.  When I troubleshoot the problem using the system tool it is always the gateway that is faulty.  I have uninstalled/reinstalled the device drivers several times, installed the newest drivers directly from Intel, restarted the computer, etc.  I can restore connectivity by turning WiFi off then back on, but the connection will drop at what seems to be random intervals.  My applicable system specs are as follows;

Lenovo Y510P  Laptop

Windows 8.1 Pro

Intel Centrino Wireless-N 2230

Apple Time Capsule router w/newest firmware

Needless to say this is quite an irritating bug that didn't exist prior to the update to 8.1  I hope this can be resolved quickly. Thanks!

I am having this problem also.  Windows 8.1 worked fine with my Linksys 'N' Router. But I upgraded to Linksys AC version.  It said all was working and installed correctly but I no longer could connect to the Internet wirelessly and I am handicapped and this is a great hardship for me.  I tried everything possible in instructions given when finally a window message appeared on my screen which told me that Windows 8.1 had problems incompatible.  I went on line to Microsoft and received a response of how to adjust settings when the internet connection is 'limited'.  It helped but did not remedy the problem.  Sometimes wireless works only to be cut-off in the midst of important business.  This is the problem of Windows 8.1  It is incompatable!
