Windows 8.1: WiFi dropping and/or "Limited"

Since installing 8.1 Pro, I'm having issues with WiFi dropping internet connectivity and always showing "Limited" when clicking on the system tray icon.  When I troubleshoot the problem using the system tool it is always the gateway that is faulty.  I have uninstalled/reinstalled the device drivers several times, installed the newest drivers directly from Intel, restarted the computer, etc.  I can restore connectivity by turning WiFi off then back on, but the connection will drop at what seems to be random intervals.  My applicable system specs are as follows;

Lenovo Y510P  Laptop

Windows 8.1 Pro

Intel Centrino Wireless-N 2230

Apple Time Capsule router w/newest firmware

Needless to say this is quite an irritating bug that didn't exist prior to the update to 8.1  I hope this can be resolved quickly. Thanks!

    Hi there,

I have a Sony vaio Pro 13 laptop with Intel(R) Dual Band Wireless-N 7260 adapter.

I also have the issues that my iPhone 5 hotspot is not working.

    The funny thing is:

When I plug the power cable then the hotspot is working.

When I unplug and even the battery is FULLY charged the hotspot is not working.

I have several issues with this WiFi adapter but this is very stupid.

Seems that it is forbidden to use WiFi without cable...;)

That's very strange, I was installing this so naturally I was plugged in. But never thought to actually unplug it. That would be completely strange though.

In my case, the win 8 was the only notebook turned on, other than that are only 2 Androids and 1 iOS devices.

The Win 8 is a new notebook, I was trying to activate the built in Norton and Windows Office 360. it keep telling me to "please don't disconnect from the Internet" while it's doing it's stuff, but widows it self is the one who has been disconnecting itself. Very frustrating.

It's just came out of the box, nothing installed yet other than what's pre installed.i signed in with my Hotmail. But any prices that needs online connection had been seriously hampered.

Someone recommend changing the registry to force reconnect to the wifi, as if the problem is due to some default network policy. Others suggested to change the power  management to 'maximum performance' suggesting the problem is due to win 8 try to save battery and thus turn the network off. I tried both,  so at the moment I already changed the power profile to Max and also edit the registry but still this frustrating issue persist.

I'm curious why this issue hasn't been officially resolved.

I have this issue daily, and typically resolve it by obligating everyone else in the house to be disconnected while I reboot our wireless router.  Really frustrating, as only the Windows 8.1 PC has the connection issue.
