Windows 8.1: WiFi dropping and/or "Limited"

Same issues with my Samsung Laptop. This has been happening ever since I upgraded to Windows 8.1... My windows 8 experience so far has been horrible. I hate it. Now a days, it's happening almost every time I click to go to a different webpage. It will say internet connectivity lost, then I have to refresh the page and it will work. But this especially sucks on pages where I have filled out a form because if it loses connectivity, the form will be blank once the page reloads and I have lost all the information I have input into the form. I run a business from my home and this really is frustrating when I trying to take a payment over the phone from a customer and I have to get them to give me their payment information again just because my wifi isn't working properly due to Windows 8.1.... Seriously, since Microsoft is not being very helpful in regards to fixing this problem with what seems millions of users that are having this problem, can anyone point me in the right direction of where or how to go about downgrading to Windows 7 or something else other than Windows possibly? In the future, I think I might have to switch over to apple quite honestly because this really sucks..

Similar issues on my surface pro2.  It's great to be in a Skype meeting or in the middle of a streaming video in a presentation and just have the wifi stop. This issue has caused me to Lose the tablet battl in my office. We are now buying more iPads.  Aughhhh...

.Happens both at home and work. Different routers, all other devices connect fine.

I cannot understand The lack of response on the issue when they are in such a tight battle for tablet market share.

Struggled with these Wi-Fi dropouts for some time (previously posted here). People on a variety of online forums report continuing Wi-Fi connection problems with Windows 8.1.  Since I have a desktop which is physically close to the Airport Extreme router, I have resorted to connecting via Ethernet cable.  I may try the Wi-Fi again sometime to see if some update(s) will improve things.  At least my iPad and Android phone connect flawlessly via Wi-Fi.

I am using 2 computers with windows 8.1. Dell all in one and HP probook 4540s. The Probook started with windows 7 pro and upgraded to windows 8 pro and eventually windows 8.1.  I have an ipad mini,  a samsung galaxy s4, dell all-in-one and the probook all on wifi, and only the probook drops connection. The Dell is running windows 8.1 and the probook is running windows 8.1 pro. I have updated the drivers several times on the probook yet still the same problem. I have tried all methods to resolve. I can sign out of the network and sign back in and it sometimes resolves the issue. Other times I have to reset my router to get it to reconnect. This is not my internet or router causing the problem. So, if we can get a fix for this it would be greatly appreciated.

Mine got fixed by a Microsoft engineer. He spend about 2 hours on my machine.

In fact he pointed me to following hardware requirement for installing Windows 8.1

“To install a 64-bit OS on a 64-bit PC, your processor needs to support CMPXCHG16b, PrefetchW, and LAHF/SAHF”

This would result in different drivers being supported for Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 (and even different Wifi adapters on the same machine not being supported.

f.ex. For my Acer Aspire E1-571 there are Windows 8 drivers for network adapters from Broadcom, Atheros and Intel. For Windows 8.1, only the Atheros adapter has a driver supported by Acer. (see http://us.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/drivers )

My machine has an Intel adapter. But - if I got it correctly - he had it fixed by

1. Keeping the last Intel driver (15.10.5.1 31-Oct-13 , I believe the date is important here)
2. Right-click ‘Command prompt’ > Run as an administrator: ‘netsh int ip reset C:\resetlog.exe’
3. turn off the “Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power” in the network adapters power settings pane

Looks like a mixt of all solutions I’ve seen before. The PC is steady since 4 hours (including 3 reboots). But I’ll keep you updated if would change its mind.

The date on my driver is indeed 31-Oct-13 and still working.

Is yours still stable?
