Windows 8.1: WiFi dropping and/or "Limited"

Since installing 8.1 Pro, I'm having issues with WiFi dropping internet connectivity and always showing "Limited" when clicking on the system tray icon.  When I troubleshoot the problem using the system tool it is always the gateway that is faulty.  I have uninstalled/reinstalled the device drivers several times, installed the newest drivers directly from Intel, restarted the computer, etc.  I can restore connectivity by turning WiFi off then back on, but the connection will drop at what seems to be random intervals.  My applicable system specs are as follows;

Lenovo Y510P  Laptop

Windows 8.1 Pro

Intel Centrino Wireless-N 2230

Apple Time Capsule router w/newest firmware

Needless to say this is quite an irritating bug that didn't exist prior to the update to 8.1  I hope this can be resolved quickly. Thanks!

    Uhmm,  which option did you try?

    it works for me every single time.  I am with you, not against you.  I want to resolve this issue as much as you do, I think.

    I am trying to find what is going on.  I noticed that the "Diagnostic Policy Service" stops working when this occurs.  have you noticed the same?

    I have my working after follow the steps above.  I have made a list of services after a clean boot.  May be You can do the same.  and together we can find a solution to the problem.

    I hope we can resolve it soon. It is driving me crazy.  Lots of time wasted on 8.1 diagnostics.

    No reason why it should work - and it doesn't work. Tried it twice and all it says is that it cannot connect outside since the connection does not work.

    I believed what Microsoft advised: "Your network card may not be ready for Windows 8.1 and to cosult with the maker of the motherboard" It turns out that Asus is not providing anymore updates for the built in network device. So, I bought a new network card, which is  100% windows 8.1 compatible.

    Yahoo!!! the problem DID NOT GO AWAY!

    But I found a work around which, kind of works for a while longer.

    This is what I did: when the internet stopped working,  I pressed the "Windows-Search key" (Windows key + Q).  Then I typed and  I searched for "Diagnostic Policy Service" (without the quotes).  Somehow, windows search enabled the network and it started working again.

    The other way, I got it working again, is by search for a new windows update.  Either way, enables your network again.

    Is it a Microsoft problem?  hmmmm, I would say it is!.  What do you think?

    I see MS still has not bothered to try to answer this one.  My Broadcom card is driving me absolutely insane and has been ever since I upgraded to 8.1.

    Please let me know if you find a fix as my laptop is using Broadcom too.  Honestly, I've about had it with MS and HP not fixing this issue at this point along with the fact that MS is already developing the next Windows and not fixing the mess they made with Windows 8.
