Since installing 8.1 Pro, I'm having issues with WiFi dropping internet connectivity and always showing "Limited" when clicking on the system tray icon. When I troubleshoot the problem using the system tool it is always the gateway that is faulty. I have uninstalled/reinstalled the device drivers several times, installed the newest drivers directly from Intel, restarted the computer, etc. I can restore connectivity by turning WiFi off then back on, but the connection will drop at what seems to be random intervals. My applicable system specs are as follows;
Lenovo Y510P Laptop
Windows 8.1 Pro
Intel Centrino Wireless-N 2230
Apple Time Capsule router w/newest firmware
Needless to say this is quite an irritating bug that didn't exist prior to the update to 8.1 I hope this can be resolved quickly. Thanks!

Thank you for the reply. I am happy that this solution worked for you and the people in your office. As much as I would like to try it, I am unable to use this method. I do not have access to download software from Cisco as I do not currently pay for any of their services. I am looking for a free solution to solve this problem. However I have to agree with you on the dumb move by MS on this one...
I have made two changes my desktop and it seems to have addressed the problem. I don't know for how long but it works
I dont' think it is required to do step 1. I just thought I should. I have no use for it for now.
Give it a try. I hope this works better.
Is this a Microsoft problem? I still think it is.
I tried the first one just searching for the words Diagnostic Policy Service. Nothing happened at all apart from telling me there were no connection. I tried a few times. I assume your method is just do Windowskey+Q and search for anything and the search action helps. But it did not unfortunately.
Your other method I tried and did not get response there either, - but only once. I will try that one again a few times.
We all want it to work, but it is frustrating it does not work. If a person with the knowledge looked at it then there would be a solution in an hour.
Then I have tested the other method. No success - it did not connect to anything and came with error message Code 80072EFD and the connection still stayed deconnected.
One last thing.
I have other devices connected to my wireless device, including iOS, Windows 7 and Windows xp. No of them have a problem.
This work around works for me all the time. In fact, I don't have to reboot my device anymore, unless I leaving over night. In that case, I have to reboot again.
thanks
