Windows 8.1: WiFi dropping and/or "Limited"

Since installing 8.1 Pro, I'm having issues with WiFi dropping internet connectivity and always showing "Limited" when clicking on the system tray icon.  When I troubleshoot the problem using the system tool it is always the gateway that is faulty.  I have uninstalled/reinstalled the device drivers several times, installed the newest drivers directly from Intel, restarted the computer, etc.  I can restore connectivity by turning WiFi off then back on, but the connection will drop at what seems to be random intervals.  My applicable system specs are as follows;

Lenovo Y510P  Laptop

Windows 8.1 Pro

Intel Centrino Wireless-N 2230

Apple Time Capsule router w/newest firmware

Needless to say this is quite an irritating bug that didn't exist prior to the update to 8.1  I hope this can be resolved quickly. Thanks!

    after installing windows 8.1 its seems the setings enable MAC address on router as default!!

    So make sure your MAC address on router settings is OFF!

    I have the same issue with wifi and cable connection. at home there are four laptops and only mine has windows 8.1, guess who has to troubleshoot the connection and add ip address manually every second-third day? windows 8 and 8.1 sucks big time.

    Well.. Since installed the .279 driver given me from Asus for the Atheros NIC and since the latest patches I am successfully running for 5 days now without the disconnects, but we will see....

    Hi all.

    I to have this issue.  I'm now bald as I have been pulling out my hair trying to fix it.  Yes I have done everything suggested on this site and elsewhere on the net.  Everything is up to date, wmm disabled.  I have a further complication as my Vaio is my only means of communication and I'm travelling with my wife and young family for the next 10 Months.  Thus I can't revert back to win 8.  Thinking of using the sony as a dinner plate.  It would be more useful.  Until I tried.......

    ......this.  I have just tried changing the network card channel from the defaut 1 to 3.  So far the computer is stable and signal strength strong.  Surely the solution couldn't be that simple, however it looks promising.
