Windows 8.1: WiFi dropping and/or "Limited"

Since installing 8.1 Pro, I'm having issues with WiFi dropping internet connectivity and always showing "Limited" when clicking on the system tray icon.  When I troubleshoot the problem using the system tool it is always the gateway that is faulty.  I have uninstalled/reinstalled the device drivers several times, installed the newest drivers directly from Intel, restarted the computer, etc.  I can restore connectivity by turning WiFi off then back on, but the connection will drop at what seems to be random intervals.  My applicable system specs are as follows;

Lenovo Y510P  Laptop

Windows 8.1 Pro

Intel Centrino Wireless-N 2230

Apple Time Capsule router w/newest firmware

Needless to say this is quite an irritating bug that didn't exist prior to the update to 8.1  I hope this can be resolved quickly. Thanks!

    Guys, if you are having troubles with Wifi that just suddenly appeared recently and no changes in your settings, it could be some F*D up Windows Update.

    Since we don't know which one is responsible, you can just do a mass rollback to some previous date and see if that helps.

    Otherwise, you're going to have to reinstall Windows from scratch and take care NOT to apply any updates.

    It seems like someone needs to go postal at MSFT for this issue to be even acknowledged, much less fixed.

    I agree with one person who believes it may be one of the 8.1 subsequent updates that has caused the problem. I have reloaded the manufacturers correct driver, changed power settings to disable the system from closing the device or laptop and NOTHING suggested so far fixes this problem!

    Raadghast, yes.  What was happening to me was that Wifi is connected but would blank out every few seconds.  e.g. works for 25 seconds, then stops, then works again, then stops.

    TOTAL EFFING FRUSTRATION.

    Changing the router channel seemed to have mitigated the problem somewhat, but it was still there.  It took a FULL REINSTALL FROM SCRATCH before the problem went away.

    I've never been a fan of turning on Windows Updates automatically and the moment I changed that habit to the "highly recommended" behavior, I paid for it dearly.
