Windows Update error 'Code 80246002'

Windows 7 Ultimate

I manually ran Windows Update and starting today it fails and provides an error  "Code 80246002"

I have seen (in here) recommendations to check for prior failed updates to resolve this...  I have no prior failed updates.

I've run both the Windows Update 'fixit' and  'WindowsUpdateDiagnostic.diagcab'

The fixit says it fixed several items, but failed to fix what it calls a windows update error, with this error code:  0x80070490

I can't find a solution so far... anybody have any suggestions?

    Add me to the list as well.  I have tried the tool and rebooted...no joy.

    I had this same error.  I had just re-imaged the PC.  The problem was the time was off by 1 hour.  Once I set the time, the error cleared and windows update ran fine.

    check the time.

    Please calm down and click on "try again" problem is fixed

    Please check your update box and click on "try again" it seems Microsoft has fixed the problem. Its the labor day weekend that made the problem take a bit of time.

    MS fixed the problem please try again by clicking on Check for updates in the update box
