Windows Update error 'Code 80246002'

Windows 7 Ultimate

I manually ran Windows Update and starting today it fails and provides an error  "Code 80246002"

I have seen (in here) recommendations to check for prior failed updates to resolve this...  I have no prior failed updates.

I've run both the Windows Update 'fixit' and  'WindowsUpdateDiagnostic.diagcab'

The fixit says it fixed several items, but failed to fix what it calls a windows update error, with this error code:  0x80070490

I can't find a solution so far... anybody have any suggestions?

    Please add my name to the list. Same problem, same error. Been trying for over 8 hours with no success. Even did a system restore to a week ago which worked for about 15 minutes, then the update occurred again and now I am in the same spot. Please get the guru's involved!

    I am having the same problem  with my Windows 7, 80246002 " Windows Update-dt000" I have tried everything. Very Upset 

    Try again after another reboot (and/or after re-running the fixit tools.)  As you can see, my problem cured itself remotely somehow after a day or so of struggles.

    MS seems to have screwed up somehow with WUA network connection. The problem comes up if computer's DNS server address is set to obtain automatic. I had the same problem all updates had installed successfully but i got error 80246002.

    Temporary solution to this is to change preffered DNS server to 4.2.2.1 and secondary to 2.2.2.2 that is til MS introduces public fix to this problem.

    Thanks, but that doesn't apply to me.  I have (another) preferred DNS.

    And...  MS may have fixed this (on their side?) as I successfully connected to Windows Update about 5 minutes ago.
