Windows 8.1 touch screen not working?

Is there a touch screen bug in the final version of Windows 8.1 or is there a particular setup I need to do to get touch to work reliably?

I just installed it on my Fujitsu T902 and sometimes the touch screen responds and sometimes it doesn't. The same also applies for the digitizer.

What is the make and model of the laptop?

You may try to download and install latest touch screen driver from the computer manufacturer website and check if it helps.

     Since its been a while since we last heard from Microsoft, I've unmarked the answer.

    I just installed it on my Fujitsu T902 and sometimes the touch screen responds and sometimes it doesn't. The same also applies for the digitizer.

    The same thing happens on my brand new Vaio Multi-Fit 15. With Windows 8 it works just fine, after Windows 8.1 the touchscreen and pen stop responding at random times, then work some more, then stop and so on.

    After investigating a bit I saw on some Acer forums people with the same issue. Apparently it can be fixed by disabling power management in the Device Manager. When you open the Device Manager, under HID there will we one or two USB Input Devices, open the properties and disable the setting that allows the system to power down the device to save energy. I've not tried it yet, reverted the system to factory status, but I will try when I have time to update to Windows 8.1.

    Please post back if it works so others can try.

    Would be great if someone from Microsoft can confirm that this setting would indeed fix the problem.

    Its such a pain to have to refresh the PC to Windows 8 again in case it does not work.

    I had a similar problem with my Gateway 6800ZX updating to 8.1 from 8.0. A forum member gave me this info to try and it worked for me more than once. Make sure you type exactly as listed. If done correctly, it will be indicated. Hit enter after each line is done. Follow prompts as indicated. Hope it works for you.

    Try this:

    Windows Key + X, choose Command Prompt (admin).  Then type the following two lines:

    bcdedit -set loadoptions DISABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS

    bcdedit -set TESTSIGNING ON

    That should get you past the signing issue.
