Windows 8.1 touch screen not working?

I'm glad it worked, but I don't understand why such a wide spread issue has not been fixed by Microsoft yet. Sony recently pushed an update to my VAIO that all it did was modify in the registry the power management options (which where already disabled, of course.)

Hi, I have the same problem with Asus N550JV, after 2 months using W8.1 the touchscreen stopped to work and in the PC Info - "no pen or touch input is avaible for this display"... I tried everything people said in this forum section, nothing solved the problem, please help

Hi, I too am using the Asus N550JV for only 1 week!! after some windows update, i guess the touch screen function was removed. 

I really want it back!

I actually posted before reading Igalan's suggestion.

Happens that the touchscreen interface was disabled.

Simply go to device manager and under HID compliant devices, enable the touch screen service. 

However, i used to be able to scroll and enlarge browser screens with the use of two fingers, that function did not return.

Do you see any error message when you try to use the touch features?

Check if you see any exclamation in device manager. Follow the steps. 

  a. Press Windows key + X.

  b. Click on Device manager.

  c. Select Human Interface Devices.

  d. Check if you see any error.

Also check if the touch screen drivers are disabled. If they are disabled, right click on it and click on enable.

Please follow the methods mentioned below:

**Method 1:**First try to run Hardware and Device troubleshooter. Follow the steps.

 a. Press Windows Key +R, type Control Panel.

 b. Type troubleshooting in the search bar, click on troubleshooting.

 c. Click on Hardware and Sound, click on Hardware and Devices.

 d. Follow the steps from the wizard to run the troubleshooter.

Method 2:

I suggest you to try and update the touch screen drivers and check for the resolution.

You may follow the steps:

 a) Press Windows key and X on your desktop and click on Device Manager.

 b) Expand Human Interface Devices. 

 c) Locate the Touch screen driver.

 d) Right-click on the driver icon and click on Update Driver Software.

 e) Click on Search automatically for the updated driver software.

 f) Follow the onscreen instructions to update the touchpad driver.

Also check the Windows updates for any latest driver updates.

Check in Windows update if any driver updates are available. If so, install the same and check if it helps.

 a) Press Windows Key + W on the keyboard.

 b) Type Updates in the search bar and click on Install optional updates from the left pane.

 c) From the Windows Update window, click on Check for Updates on the top left corner to receive a fresh list of updates and install all the updates listed there.

If no driver updates are available, you may also search for the updated touchpad device drivers in the “Drivers” and “Driver Store” folders in the location “C:/Windows/System32” by selecting the option Browse my computer for Driver Software.

Still, if you are unable to find any latest drivers in the computer, then check in the computer manufacturer’s website for the latest Windows 8 drivers for the touch screen. If they are available, then download and install them on the computer.

Update Driver Software from the Manufacturer’s website:

Go to the computer manufacturer’s website and search for the latest Windows 8 drivers available for the touch and then install them by following the instructions given in the website.
