Windows 8.1 touch screen not working?

Is there a touch screen bug in the final version of Windows 8.1 or is there a particular setup I need to do to get touch to work reliably?

I just installed it on my Fujitsu T902 and sometimes the touch screen responds and sometimes it doesn't. The same also applies for the digitizer.

as mentioned, i am using a fuji t902 but the "fix" is the same

go to your hardware-manager and find your touch/pen digitizer, for me its "wacom device" and disable the powersaving setting in the config "pc can deactivate to save power"

    Hi

I have the HP Spectre x2 originally 8.1 and am having the same problem with my touchscreen.  it besically stops working.  I have to restart to get the touchscreen working again.  You mentioned that you had a similar problem and changed the HID settings.   What exactly did you change in HID settings ?

    Thanks

I have the Lenovo G500s, what worked for me was opening service manager, uninstalling HID-compliant touch screen (under Human Interface Devices), restarting and allowing Windows to reinstall. On my first restart it froze after logging in, held power to force a shutdown and its been working fine since. Hope this helps someone.

I uninstalled the same driver, then restarted. It never reinstalled. How do I force a reinstall?
