Windows 8.1 touch screen not working?

Is there a touch screen bug in the final version of Windows 8.1 or is there a particular setup I need to do to get touch to work reliably?

I just installed it on my Fujitsu T902 and sometimes the touch screen responds and sometimes it doesn't. The same also applies for the digitizer.

What is the make and model of the laptop?

You may try to download and install latest touch screen driver from the computer manufacturer website and check if it helps.

Well, I can confirm the setting fixes the problem. I have 8.1 (default) on HP Spectre x2 and was facing the same problem.

The HID settings fixed it. Thanks!

I got a reply from Fujitsu regarding the proper way to upgrade the T902 from Windows 8 to Windows 8.1.

I haven't tried it yet as I am busy with work right now.

Here it is for your reference (you should not need to disable the power saving option):

Regarding to your inquiry, please kindly read this guide before proceeding to Win8.1 update.

* You are strongly adviced to use “Fujitsu MyRecovery” to burn Windows 8 Recovery DVD, backup your data and disable password in advance of the upgrade.

And the following drivers/utilities should be downloaded before update:
- Bluetooth
- Button Driver
- FUJ02B1
- FUJ02E3
- GABI
- Media Slot
- IRST
- Smart Card
- Wireless Radio Switch
- Disc Burning Utility Update Pack
- OmniPass
- Power Saving Utility Update Patch
- System Manager
For details operations, you can refer to the “remarks” column.

For the button driver, pls kindly follow below steps to restore the button functionality after upgrade.
1. Uninstall old button driver
Named: Windows Driver Package – Fujitsu America, Inc. (FjBtnDrv) <- version 08/01/2012
1. Uninstall Fujitsu System Manager
Named: Fujist System manager <- version 8.00.0814.2012
1. Install new version of button driver
Named: Windows Driver Package – Fujitsu America, Inc. (FjBtnDrv) <- version 07/10/2013
1. Re-install Fujitsu System Manager
Named: Fujist System manager <- version 8.00.0814.2012

Provided that correct drivers and utilities are installed and above steps are followed, T902 should have no different functionality under Windows 8 / 8.1.

it started working again. I tried a lot of stuff with the Microsoft tech help, so i'm not sure whether any of it worked or it was just time. I know it had something to do with a driver for USB something or other
