Hi Teri,
- What is the exact model of the HP laptop?
- When you say "now it doesn't work at all", does the touchscreen is not working or laptop stopped working?
- Are you using Windows 8 or 8.1?
If the touchscreen is not working, you may try the following steps and check.
Method 1:
Step 1:
a. Press Windows key + X on the desktop Screen and selectDevice manager.
b. Expand the device and right-click on
driver and select ‘uninstall’.
Step 2:
You may also refer to the HP Support and
try installing the latest version of touchscreen drivers and check.
Method 2:
You may also run the hardware troubleshooter and check if it helps.
a. Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, and then tapSearch.
(If you're using a mouse, point to the upper-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer down, and then clickSearch.)
b. Enter Troubleshooting in the search box, tap or clickTroubleshooting, and then tap or click
Hardware and Sound.
c. Tap or click Hardware and Devices, and follow the instructions on the screen. You might be asked for an admin password or to confirm your choice.
Hope the information helps. Let us know if you need further assistance with Windows related issues. We will be happy to help.
