Cant use windows 8.1 Windows Easy Transfer on Windows 8.1

I updated from Windows 8 to the new Windows 8.1.

I want to CREATE a Windows Easy Transfer file on the Windows 8.1 machine.  When using WET, it just does not have that option.  Is this discontinued in Windows 8.1 or a bug?

Is there a way to create a WET file on the 8.1 machine?

    Hi,

    Windows Easy Transfer is removed from Windows 8.1.

    Items that now can be easily transfered by using SkyDrive in combination with other services and tools, such as Xbox Music to back up your music collection, and File History to keep files always backup and up-to-date.

    You may refer to the thread link and the suggestions provided by Michael Day [MSFT].

    You could bring back Easy Transfer.

    We have multiple user accounts on our main family PC.  Should I force everyone to back up all their files individually?  Or should they let me go through their pics, docs, etc.?  Easy transfer made this....easy.

    And don't even get me started on music...and I like Xbox Music.  But it doesn't support our entire collection, and often mis-matches the tracks it does have.  The suggestion that it replaces local transfer is, quite frankly, offensive.

    Same for OneDrive.  I like it, too.  But it is no replacement for local migration.

    This is very, very, very annoying.  It is impacting my ability to upgrade a PC, and will impact my decision on what OS will be running on its replacement.

    Easy transfer is still there you have to use the charms bar /search/easy transfer and there it is you need an administrator account to use it

    I think you can use the old Windows 8 easy transfer tool (not the crippled 8.1 version). You'll find it on the Windows 8 installation disk.

    The path is:

    D:\support\migwiz

    Replace D with what ever drive letter your disk (or disk image) is mounted on.

    The windows 8 disc image is fairly easy to download from Microsoft if you have a product key.

    I don't think anyone will sue M$ over this but it is definitely another nail in the Windows coffin from the tech community.

    I'm screwed then since I want WET to save files on this 8.1 pc and transfer to another 8.1 machine. MS, you idiots! How many mass bad decisions can you make with one version of Windows? I hope someone sues the **** out of you.
