Easy transfer is still there you have to use the charms bar /search/easy transfer and there it is you need an administrator account to use it

I updated from Windows 8 to the new Windows 8.1.
I want to CREATE a Windows Easy Transfer file on the Windows 8.1 machine. When using WET, it just does not have that option. Is this discontinued in Windows 8.1 or a bug?
Is there a way to create a WET file on the 8.1 machine?

2014-03-06T14:26:04+00:00 I think you can use the old Windows 8 easy transfer tool (not the crippled 8.1 version). You'll find it on the Windows 8 installation disk.
The path is:
D:\support\migwiz
Replace D with what ever drive letter your disk (or disk image) is mounted on.
The windows 8 disc image is fairly easy to download from Microsoft if you have a product key.

2014-02-06T17:05:49+00:00 Looks like I have stumbled across another brown'n'smelly storm caused by M$ and another of their not publicised features in 8.1.
Just for the record Skydrive doesn't work with 8.1 or at least the much touted automatic fetching ie. syncing of files no longer works. Bloody marvellous.
