Error 0xC1900101 - 0x40017 is caused by a driver error during boot. To install Windows 8.1, try these solutions that have worked for some customers so far:
- Make sure all drivers have been updated prior to installing Windows 8.1.
- Check for and uninstall the SteelSeries Engine software, which is currently not supported in Windows 8.1. See this link for a list of hardware devices that use the SteelSeries Engine.
- If your PC contains NVIDIA GeForce graphics cards, update to Windows 8.1-compatible drivers by visiting this blog containing direct links to the compatible drivers.
Does NOT work for me. As stated in prior post, I have double checked everything and NOTHING fixes the install error. ALL drivers are up to date and there is nothing else I can do until this trash is fixed. MS has REALLY been making consumers PO recently and it seems nothing has changed on their side.
As others have pointed out, these issues arose in the PREVIEW and still NOT fixed. VERY poor coding and one of the worst roll outs I have seen since Vista or worse!
