I had received a range of errors from 0xC19... 0x400.. to 0x80...
It was hanging at various times (at 25% installation) at 63% during the installation etc.
It was failing after the end of the download and while extracting the install.win archive it appears... the same error was happening while trying to install windows server 2012 R2.
There are many threads that deal with this issue, I chose to write in this one. I may repost in another few threads I had visited while I had the issue.
That was my case though, it is not sure that it will be yours... it just a thing to explore.
I still don't know why the upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 8 worked fine and then while on Windows 8 the upgrade to 8.1 start having problems. Either the memory got corrupted during the transition or the Windows 8 manage the (corrupted) memory in a completely
different way than Windows 7.
I couldn't test the upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 8 again because, somehow, the downloader of windows 8 stopped working in my case (it was giving an error that it cannot connect on the Internet).
I hope this helps.
