Windows Update Error Code 80244019

Hi,

Error code: 0x80244019 indicates that the computer was able to connect to the Windows server, but was not able to find what was requested. This error is usually fixed by running the Windows Updates again.

I would suggest you to try the following methods and check if it works for you.

Method 1:

Reset Windows Update Components and then try check for updates.

Method 2:

Try installing the latest network adapter and chipset drivers from the Acer website and check if it helps.

Method 3:

Turn on the Data Execution Prevention and check if the issue persists.

Follow the steps to turn on Data Execution Prevention:

a. Click on This PC and right click on free space and click Properties.

b. Click on the Advanced system settingsand then click on Advanced tab.

c. Click on Settings under Performance.

d. Click on Data Execution Prevention.

e. Click on Turn on DEP for all Programs and Services except those I select:

f**.** If you can see the program in the list put a check mark on that if not click on

g. Otherwise, click on Add. Locate the path to the game .exe file.

h. Click on Open.

i. Click on Apply. Click on OK twice.

j. Restart computer and check.

I have tried to Reset Windows Update Components using Method 1 above. I have run the Fixit for Windows 8 three times. Each time it claims to have found and solved some faults (the same faults each time). But the problem remains.

I haven't tried to do the reset manually.

Still in Method 1, at section 11 of http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971058/en-us I have looked at Installing the latest Windows Update Agent. I have looked at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/949104/en-gb "How to update the Windows Update Agent to the latest version". I have stopped and then started Windows Update service. Then, using my USB plug in SIM card modem, I have run Windows Update. I didn't get an error message. Instead after about 3 minutes I got a message saying that there were no updates for me. Then I checked my version of the Windows Update Agent for Windows 8 and found it to be 7.8.9200.16731, and not 7.8.9200.16693 which is claimed to be the latest version according to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/949104/en-gb dated 23 May 2014. This seems odd to me as my version has a higher number than the "latest" version.

I haven't tried Method 2 yet.

I want to try method 3 now but I am worried about the advice at Method 3 part f.  It says "If you can see the program in the list put a check mark on that if not click on"  Click on .... what? I don't understand. Can you help? I think something is missing here.

I have carried out the steps above to turn on Data Execution Prevention. I have run windows Update twice and it now seems to work. I don't get any error messages and Windows Update is able to report that there are no updates for me.
