Microsoft Fix It encountered an unexpected problem and cannot continue.

I wasn't sure where to go for downloads so looked on the history and decided to try some of the failed updates (right click, information download link)

This is what I got:

I tried to download Hotfix KB947821 and got error 0x80246002.

I then tried KB2785220 it downloaded and then advised me that it was n/a to my pc.

I tried MS14-035 but couldn't find an update link!

I tried KB2732059 and after downloading a message told me it was already installed.

I tried the normal check for update button but got the 800B0100 error message.

Incidentally, and I don't know if this is linked but I also had a strange result with Windows components. Whilst waiting for a download I thought I would have a go at a game of spider. I went through the process to activate the game and when I got to Turn Windows features on and of the list was blank. Nothing at all! Has that some bearing. I just don't understand ........

Is there a better way of looking for updates? Mind you I am not sure if I want to have to chjeck for and manaually download and install all future updates. Life is too short....

Thanks for your help it does seem that some parts of update are working.

Try downloading another single update. I suspect Windows Update is now working.

Please provide an updated copy of your System Information file. Type System Information in the Search Box above the start Button and press the ENTER key (alternative is Select Start, All Programs, Accessories, System Tools, System Information). Select File, Export and give the file a name noting where it is located. Do not place the cursor within the body of the report before exporting the file. The system creates a new System Information file each time system information is accessed. You need to allow a minute or two for the file to be fully populated before exporting a copy. Please upload to your OneDrive (formerly Sky Drive), share with everyone and post a link here. Reports in normal mode preferred. Please say if the report has been obtained in safe mode.

Please upload and share with everyone fresh copies of your System and Application logs from your Event Viewer to your One Drive (formerly Sky Drive) and post a link here. You can remove the earlier copies of the logs from your OneDrive.

To access the System log select Start, Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Event Viewer, from the list in the left side of the window expand Windows Logs and select System. Place the cursor on System, select Action from the Menu and Save All Events as (the default evtx file type) and give the file a name. Do the same for the Applications log. Do not provide filtered files. Do not clear logs whilst you have a continuing problem.

Yes I clicked the check for updates button and got the error. When I went to restart a message appeared stating installing update 69 from 160 but after 30 minutes I gave up and powered off. When I restarted there were some 2400 updates/configerations which it went through and restarted. At the restart it reported that the update configuration had failed and it was rolling back. So make of that as you will.

It appears that now updates are coming through but not installing correctly.
