nVidia graphic card does not show up in device manager, unable to update drivers

Original Title: NVidia graphic card disappeared

Before three weeks ago, I connected my two laptops via network sharing (but it didn't work) . After that my laptop (ASUS X52J with nVidia GeForce 310M) did not respond, it restarted. But with some errors. After that my laptop didn't detect nVidia card (detected only Intel graphic card). I uninstalled my drivers and tried to installed. But it occurred error..

"This graphic driver could not find compatible graphic hardware"

And Device manager also didn't detect the nVidia adapter..what should i do now..Please Help

    Dear Mann Manohar

    Finally the Nvidia GeForce GT 420M GPU showed up by following Step2 otherwise since a long time there was no tracing of the GPU. Now at least it is confirmed that this thing is inside dead or alive and somehow disabled itself.

    This is a Dell laptop XPS L501X model and my GPU was running well since last 5 years. One fine day I realized that my GPU is not working when I tried to lunch a Game. No idea how it got disabled and I'm the only person using this laptop.

    Could you please guide me step by step how to enable it!! or what other methods to apply.

    I face the same problem.....I have a Sony Vaio E-Series....It doesn't show up the AMD Radeon Card anywhere...I have to use the Intel HD Graphics 3000 which is too annoying...Hope someone solves my problem...

    I am having the same problem with my Dell XPS 2720 All-in-one desktop PC, the nvidia gpu has disappeared. It might be because I recently updated the BIOS. I will have to contact Dell and find out what can be done.

    The video card is internal and came with the PC, I have not added it myself.

    Ridiculous that Dell recommended the BIOS update, in the first place, if it now makes my internal video card vanish.

    Very Annoying!

    Hi!

    In method 2, my gpu does show up in the hidden devices list. What do you mean by remove each instance of it from the list?

    I have the same problem listed above, except with a dell xps13. I tried all of these methods and still cannot see my graphics card show up. I am certain that I do have the graphics card, but since I have a laptop, I cannot just get a new graphics card and replace it. Anyone have any ideas? I have the latest dell drivers and everything (including the bios.)
