My Bluetooth adaptor in Windows 8.1 will not pair with my Bluetooth headset or phone. It returns a "No devices found" message. The 8.1 compatible driver has been downloaded and installed and returns the message " Your Bluetooth software is up to date"

Hi Ken,

I would suggest to make sure if you have turned on Bluetooth on other devices.

Method 1:

I would also suggest you to run the Hardware and devices troubleshooter to troubleshoot the device:

a. Press Windows key to launch the Start screen.

b. Type “Troubleshooting” without quotes and click on Troubleshooting.

c. In the new window, click View all on the left pane.

d. In the list of options, click on Hardware and devices.

e. Click Next and follow the on-screen instructions.

Method 2:

I would also suggest you to start the Bluetooth service and set it to Automatic:

a.     Go to the Start screen.

b.    Type “Services.msc” without quotes and press Enter.

c.     Right click on Bluetooth support service and click on Properties.

d.    Set the Startup type as Automatic and then click Start under Service status.

e.    Click on OK.

Let us know the results. If you need any further help, we’re glad to assist.

    Dimitry,

After struggling for a day and a half trying to get my new headset on my new notebook, I finally followed your advice.

Thank you so much!!!! I found driver Atheros Driver v 8.0.1.306 for my ASUS X55 Series at the link below, installed it, and now everything works like a charm.

    No luck needed anymore ;)

I am using Lenovo G500 64-bit machine with built in windows 8. Bluetooth was working fine before but after I upgraded to 8.1 bluetooth has stopped working. I tried both of your methods and ended up with something like this:

Now I am unable to connect my headset through bluetooth :(

    Hey man,

No guarantees, but someone with an ASUS machine used the same driver and said that it worked.  Check the first page of the tread and look for:  GuylaineGuimond replied on  January 23, 2014

As long as your hardware is form Qualcomm Atheros Communications, that driver should work fine.

    Good luck!
