How do I disable the new titlebar in Modern Apps?

The problem I run into using Metro RDP on my Surface is that I remote into work and when I want to switch apps it is far easier for me to swipe from the left and change over than it is to go to the taskbar with a mouse and change apps. Also, I like the way all the remote machines are placed in the context bar that pulls down from the top. I find this easier to switch from machine to machine than going to the taskbar and clicking. I also like how metro RDP auto-resized the remote desktop based on the snap size of the RDP app- this is not possible with desktop RDP as it keeps the window at the same size and just adds scroll bars- not very touch friendly.

I am not saying that desktop RDP can't be used, but that I am using a hybrid device, and as such the apps I use are used in a hybrid method- with both touch and mouse at the same time. I can't do that in the desktop RDP client. It is just not possible. I don't use mouse only- I have had a touchscreen laptop for many years- since 2008- I am very well accustomed to how to use touch and mouse at the same time- Windows 8 has taken this to a new level with greater ability to use touch. This title bar has removed some of the ability to use the mouse on a touch friendly app.

If metro RDP were only designed for touch then it should not be possible to remote into any computer that is older than Windows 8, and even then should only be allowed to be in the metro UI. It is ridiculous to think that the app was designed for touch only- it is just not possible to use touch only when remoting into a Windows 7 computer- especially on a 10 inch screen.

I don't have to "act" like I know what it was designed for, because it was very explicitly stated by the people who did develop it.  It's for touch first.

You view your home PC. Impressive. I support multiple clients on multiple Windows versions and have accidently closed and had to reconnect to clients on no less than 5 occasions. It's embarrassing, and it wastes time. In order to compensate for it I'm forced to slow down and be extra careful each time I have to close a maximized window.

And you are plainly wrong about the mouse. "Touch First" is not "Touch Only". When Windows 8 was announced and many times subsequently we were given assurance after assurance with examples of how mouse and keyboard users could operate it just as well -- which was always true (until now).

Do you not see the contradiction of your whole argument?  The title bar was added FOR MOUSE USERS. Touch users don't need it and don't see it (as you point out). But MOUSE USERS are having a problem with it. And your solution is to tell them not to use the very apps in which the title bar that was ADDED FOR THEM appears?  Really?

I'm not sure what your agenda is here. The point of a moderator is to facilitate communication in an open forum. What you are doing is creating resistance and turmoil. You are not offering solutions that address our concerns and you are not, in my opinion, contributing in a positive way to the discussion.

Relax now, I already did.  But every complaint so far is resolved by using the interface as it was intended and designed.

• If you're using your Surface tablet, then use your fingers and you won't see the bar.
• If you are using a mouse pointer, you can use the desktop client (even on your Surface) and you also won't see the bar.

Both ways, the problem is solved.  You are the one intentionally creating a problem by using the product counter to the way it was designed, built, and marketed.  You can't pull a yacht with a Dodge Neon and expect not to blow the transmission.

I never said I don't like the metro environment. I absolutely love it. I use it daily on my Dell Venue 8 Pro and my Surface 2 tablet.  It wasn't built for a mouse pointer though.  There already is a place built for the mouse pointer, and you should give it a try. It's been fine-tuned for decades to give you what you want.

What; are you Steve Jobs now?  We're using it wrong? We are "intentionally creating a problem"?

You obviously don't use team viewer or you'd know there are times when using your fingers is fine and times when using a mouse is necessary for precision.

And I guess we shouldn't use the "metro" IE with a mouse either, considering that the "x" on that pop-down title bar will overlay the arrow to scroll content up. And yes, I've accidently closed IE when trying to scroll up. It's frustrating.

And I think you should stop acting like you know what the product was designed for. It was absolutely designed to be used with a mouse (and keyboard for that matter).  If the designers only intended us to use our fingers there would be no touch pad on the touch and type covers.

Not to mention that these "designs" are CHANGES. The product didn't have these "features" before. They were added without an option to disable them -- which is all we are asking for. Just pass our concerns along without your editorial and give us a chance to be heard.
