Copy Paste dialog not displayed in the foreground or as the focus window

Hey, is your Windows Explorer set to Launch folder windows in a separate process?

I had that annoying focus losing problem for ages until I read someone's recommendation to turn offthe above option in Windows Explorer Folder Options dialog under the View tab.

My standard practice after freshly installing Windows was to always enable this option so as to prevent any unruly Explorer processes bringing down the system, so I had forgotten that it is not set that way by default.

Since turning it off, I haven't had a single instance of the Copy/Overwrite dialogs losing focus for weeks now.

Also worth mentioning that I have an AMD CPU and graphics card and have also experienced the same problem as you, so I really don't think NVIDIA drivers are to blame for that bug.

Can confirm that turning this option off fixed it for me. I don't use Chrome or have an NVIDIA graphics card either. This is an issue with Microsoft's OS, not some 3rd party bug. We ought to be able to enable that option without seeing this bug so hopefully they will track it down and squash it soon.

Issue resolved for me after updating the following display adapter: Intel HD Graphics 4600.

What has Google to do with this? I don't have any Google applications on my computer (i.e. Google Chrome) so this dumb behavior is a Windows thing.

I agree with the rest of the crowd that this behavior is very annoying. I think this is another example of bad ergonomics! If I work with files then any decision I make that needs my interaction should be clearly visible, not buried in the task bar!

The dialog box for the copy and paste is created at the highest z level on the screen so you can see it. Then a program like chrome can call its program or window that it has control over to the highest z level which pushes the copy and paste back.

Chrome can also mess with the shell which controls all of the windows. Graphics drivers and anti virus software can do this too. In fact Kaspersky had a couple employees come forward that they were purposely sharing windows system files that were changed slightly in the malware repository. Then all malware companies that use that sharing database who didn't catch it was a fake threat deleted a system file from windows. You can read more on the internet.

It isn't a windows issue it is a third party program that has caused the issue. If you did a clean install of windows the issue wouldn't be there if you booted into safe mode.

Open a command prompt in admin mode and run this. Dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth

I have to double check that's the right command cleanup-image should be hyphenated there. I am sure its in a different post though.

Also update you graphics driver. Microsoft wont fix the issue because they can't fix third party software. If you have s shell program you should update it or remove it prior to running dism
