[W8.1 Update 1] "Windows Store failed to sync machine licenses. Result code 0x80070490"

After a clean install of windows 8.1.1 using the ISO from Technet I started getting the following error message in my event log the first time I start my machine in the morning:

Event 512 Store-Licensing  "Windows Store failed to sync machine licenses. Result code 0x80070490"

I use a Microsoft account and I have synced by Modern apps many times manually. Running the scheduled task manually will also produce the same error. I disabled the Scheduled Task that runs the sync and I'll see if it shows up tomorrow. Btw, the Store seems to be working fine.

I  read somewhere that the MS Store will be changed for 8.1.1 so I wonder if the 'new' store will stop these messages.

The Scheduled Task that kicks this off appears to be Microsoft/Windows/WS and is called WSRefreshBannedAppsListTask.

    Hello T Suominen,

This issue might occur if the Store app is corrupt.

I would suggest you to re-register Store app and check if it fixes the issue.

Run the command from the link to re-register Store app:

For Store, you can run the command in Command Prompt (admin mode): powershell -ExecutionPolicy Unrestricted Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register $Env:SystemRoot\News360\AppxManifest.xml

Note: This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you follow these steps carefully. For added protection, back up the registry before you modify it. Then, you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information about how to back up and restore the registry, you can refer to the following steps to back the registry files on the computer:

    • Press Windows and R keys to open the run box.
    • Type ‘regedit’ and press Enter from the keyboard.
    • Open the file option on the menu bar.
    • Click on Export and save the file with a name on the desktop.
    • If you want to restore the file, you can do so by double clicking the file that      you have saved on the desktop.

If the issue still persists, I would suggest you to provide the event viewer log files to find out the exact cause that is causing the issue.  Follow the steps to collect the log files:

    • Go to the Start Screen, type in Event Viewer. This will bring up the Event Viewer tile, Click to open the event viewer.
    • In the left pane, expand out Windows Logs. Click on Application log and highlight the first event in the log and use your arrow keys to scroll down.
    • Most of your event will be Information. You may see Yellow Warnings or Red Errors. If you see any red error, you can double click on it to bring it up and copy the contents to a document.

Hope this would do the trick. If issue still persists post back with current status of your computer and result of proposed suggestion, we will be glad to assist you.

    Regards.

Same here, despite the scheduling the error still pops-up. Tried to locate what those "Last run results" mean:

    Sync Licenses: 0x8007000E

    WSTask: 0x800710E0

But did not find eny accurate information.

    So @MSFT, what next... ;)

No dice, still getting the error. This must be problem that Microsoft can patch. I think too many people are having this "random" problem. If we say that one in 100,000,000 users are teck savvy enough to check their event viewer and are willing to write on a forum than this problem is huge :P

Well you can set "Run task as soon as possible after a scheduled start missed" in the Settings tab. But im not quite sure that this fixes the problem we are having. This is on all my computers two at home and one at work. But we will find out soon :)
