[W8.1 Update 1] "Windows Store failed to sync machine licenses. Result code 0x80070490"

After a clean install of windows 8.1.1 using the ISO from Technet I started getting the following error message in my event log the first time I start my machine in the morning:

Event 512 Store-Licensing  "Windows Store failed to sync machine licenses. Result code 0x80070490"

I use a Microsoft account and I have synced by Modern apps many times manually. Running the scheduled task manually will also produce the same error. I disabled the Scheduled Task that runs the sync and I'll see if it shows up tomorrow. Btw, the Store seems to be working fine.

I  read somewhere that the MS Store will be changed for 8.1.1 so I wonder if the 'new' store will stop these messages.

The Scheduled Task that kicks this off appears to be Microsoft/Windows/WS and is called WSRefreshBannedAppsListTask.

Yes I know this isn't useful but I just feel like someone needs to make this comment.

    Dear Microsoft,

Learn to actually help people who ask for help instead of posting useless suggestions repeatedly until the people seeking help give up and go to some other actually useful help site. You should know how to fix your own products and not have to spam users with prewritten junk dressed up as "help".

We are all much better off NOT having ANYTHING "sync" to ANYTHING Microsoft!

I think I found the source of the problem:

    In Control Panel> Date and Time> Internet Time > Change Settings ;

Windows is configured to Sync with "Time.Windows.com" and seems that is not working. When I press the button "Update now" there comes a Time-Out error.

So that might be the problem of the Sync.

I tested the other available Servers and I choose one that is working without problem

The Event ID 512 error is gone for now.

    Regards

    Adalwar

I completely agree. I'm very unhappy with Microsoft's support.

I checked the things you mentioned and everything is OK on my end.

Disabling the scheduled task called WSRefreshBannedAppsListTask no longer produces an error event log entry.  Of course whatever this task does it no longer will be doing now that it's disabled.  Then again it didn't seem to work when enabled either according to the error message.
