Nokia Lumia 930 microphone problem

No one is here from Microsoft. Take your phone back for repair or open a proper support case through the correct channels.

I'm sorry but this thread is getting stupid and off topic now... whinging on here and threatening to now buy a MS phone anymore will not help or hurt anyone but yourself.

I am running windows 10 now on my Lumia 930. its awesome! plenty of issue still, but its not finished yet.

Windows 10 Mobile is going to make a comeback. You would only do yourself harm by going and buying an Android or iPhone. they have their place but if you really do love Windows Mobile, then stick to it and just fix the problem.

A defective phone requires mechanical evaluation and repair.

I urge you and others who are facing trouble in basic phone functionality to make a warranty claim as soon as possible. This is done either at the place of purchase, the carrier, or directly to a Nokia / Microsoft Care point, depending on local consumer laws and regulations.

If in doubt, ask at the place of purchase how to proceed.

Please keep it simple. 'Speakerphone call does not work' is sufficient in this case.

I agree with you entirely. Anyone who is under warranty should contact Microsoft. The more people that do this, the more likely they'll do something about it. You can also have this repaired by paying for it. I did, but mine was to have the screen repaired too and that set me back £126.

While I respect your opinion I totally disagree with you and the person you originally have agreed with. We are not talking here about some trivial part that stopped working because of wear and tear way short of its expected life span or came broken right out of the box. We are talking about the most basic most essential  of what makes a phone afresking phone to begin with. The microphone an internal pert that it's clear if you do the research has been failing  across all lumias and goes back to earlier lumias such as lumia 900. This is clearly a design/ manufacturing issue that Microsoft should and ought to know about and address its customer complaints and concerns regardless if the product just ran out warranty or like mine didn't come with one because it was purchased from an online retailer. That's not my fault. And by addressing I don't mean like others suggest just take it to the store and let them fix it while it's under warranty or simply pay for it out of yiur freaking own money.  Microsoft should fix/ replace the faulty units with a big smile regardless of warrant status. I paid 600 dollars for mine and it didn't come with warranty and I don't live near a care center and it came broken right out of the freaking box. What does that nean for me. Sorry better luck next time. I travelled to the Middle East last year and I went to a care center. They wanted 400 dollars to replace the motherboard. My unit was still under wawarrenty but in Hong Kong. They actually told me to send it to hing kong if I don't want to pay the 400 dollars. This is clearly a design defect that they should honor and fix regardless. Another reader here suggest that we stop whining and take the phine to fix.  He is one of the lucky one that has a local warrant and have access to a care center. Good for him. But don't insult the rest of us.  And brush off this problem as a trivial one. I have a 30 year flip phone that still workers as a freaking phone.  I hate to compare but I was told Apple has camera issues with earlier iphone 6 plus units and it's telling it's customer if you have these units bring them back for some sort of compensation. PERIOD.

Hi Jyasin, firstly I'm not trying to insult you or anyone else, but I think its important that a few things are understood.

1. Microsoft are very rarely on here if ever. they are certainly not going to do anything about an issue from a forum. the proper channels must be used to get a problem fixed.
2. I promise you regardless of what you think, this problem is fairly small. its not trivial, but just not as widespread as you might think. when I took my phone for repairs, they mentioned they had issues with the mic, but not the same as mine. regardless it was mentioned that it was still a relatively low number of handsets with the issue. its not like they sold 100 units and 90 came back, it was more around 3-5 as an example. (numbers just as indicator)
3. with the majority of manufacturers you must take the product back to the place of purchase for repairs. this is how the world works and while it is slowly changing for some manufactures, it is the certainly the procedure for nokia/Microsoft phones at this point in time. buying from an 'online retailer' also known as 'potential dodgy online shop' is 100% at your own risk! you could have bought a stolen phone! they are no doubt not an authorised seller of the products. they should offer you a warranty and you should return it to them. simple as that :) I bet you bought it from the 'online retailer' cause they were cheap (don't worry I do this too, but when things break they end up in a draw or the bin).

if you want the 'apple experience' please go and buy an iPhone. you will be happier!

in order for anyone who wants to move forward and have their phone fixed, please call Microsoft, explain your situation and have the phone returned for repair. I did this through the retail shop that I walked into and bought my 930 and got my phone replaced in 3-5 days.
