Windows 8.1 error: "thread stuck in device driver"

After installing the Windows 8.1 update without issue, every time I turn on my computer a screen appears that saying that there was an error when the last session ended, and that the issue pertains to "thread_stuck_in_device_driver". This has occurred every time for the last 6 days, and I have used system restore and Windows Update and the issue still remains. Has anyone found a solution to a similar problem?

The Dell support page offers a few things to check, but says if all else fails, replace the video card.

Maybe replacing the video card is worth it to get rid of all the headaches. 

THREAD STUCK IN DEVICE DRIVER

This Blue Screen error indicates that a device driver-almost always a video card driver-is stuck waiting for something (usually a hardware operation) to happen. Most of you have probably seennv4_disp.sys associated with this Blue Screen.

  1. Ensure the video drivers are updated to the latest Dell version.
  2. The system BIOS is fully up-to-date.
  3. If both the video driver and the system BIOS are fully up-to-date, check with the manufacturer for recent driver updates.
  4. As a last resort, try exchanging the video card.

Note: Reinstalling Windows is not likely to prevent this error from reoccurring.

    I have the same problem, but I have Dell Inspiron Laptop, I upgraded to 8.1. by pure mistake and my laptop has become slower (it take 10-15 minutes to even start the computer). It is ridiculous. I have tried all the tricks on this forum, any further help that could help? How can I downgrade to Windows 8?

    really? inbuilt radeon graphics is more efficient na..  is it true that nomore blue screens?

    I have the same laptop and had the same problem. Running it through here fixed it: http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/19/DriversHome/ShowProductSelector

    If you don't know your service tag code, choose "Automatically detect my Service Tag for me."

    It showed me 4 drivers I needed to download even though my device manager told me everything was up to date.

    Hi Rajith,

    When I start the laptop it shows "THREAD_STUCK_IN_DEVICE_DRIVER" error and reboots , then starts normally.. And on updates it says, there are not any important Update...! as the solution provided by you, I have a yellow flag on "Intel WiUSB - USB-IF x HCI USB HOST Controller", and on that when i hit update, it says 'It is up to date'..

    Mine is a Dell Lap which i had bought last December.

    Below is my Device manager screenshot:

    Provide me a solution on this...!

    This is exactly as it appears on my computer, I have a Dell 15R SE and it has also become sluggish and reappears with this error after I restart the computer. Please advise how to fix this issue.
