Windows Live Mail can not copy hyperlinks from one e-mail to another.

Hey all.

Long story short, I am writing this for my mother who current runs a dog boarding business as well as various other e-mail accounts, ranging from fan clubs to personal ones. She has a draft e-mail saved which contains information and links she would COPY and PASTE into e-mails prior to sending them. Essentially, these are signatures. No matter which signature she copies and pastes, each one has at least one weblink.

As of yesterday, when copying and pasting that information, the link does not copy with the text. Instead of pasting the text as a hyperlink, like she has been able to, it simply shows the text without any clickable option.

I have double checked the options, Read all messages in plain text is unticked, as well as the Mail Sending Format and News Sending Formation both being set to HTML.

Can anyone help please?

Thank you.

I do not now, nor have ever, used IE on this computer or its predecessor.

You may not use the Internet Explorer browser, but I can assure you that you probably use Internet Explorer every day. It provides a lot of functionality for Windows - including Internet connectivity - and for Windows programs like Windows Live Mail. If you are running Windows 8.1, then you have Internet Explorer 11 installed and your computer falls into the category of affected machines as far as this bug is concerned and as far as our limited experience of it extends. I don't think your version of Word has any bearing on the matter.

I am currently on Windows 8.1

    My Livemail version is:

    Version 2012 (Build 16.4.3508.0205)

which is what I have been using for some time, well before the problem arose.

    MS Word is

    14.0.7106.5003

I do not now, nor have ever, used IE on this computer or its predecessor.

I have my Win 8.1 laptop set to check for updates weekly so assume I am on the latest version of Livemail.

That's a dangerous assumption: only once has a Windows Live Mail update been pushed through Windows Update, and that was a disaster. The only way to be sure you have the latest version is to check this forum and the Windows blogs regularly. That said, updates don't come thick and fast - the last was compiled in February 2013.

I've checked it on our end and it is working. I was able to copy and paste the link from Windows Live Mail to another email.

This fault appears to arise using Windows Live Mail 2012 with Internet Explorer 11. Which versions of the program did you test with, on which OSs and with which (update) versions of Internet Explorer installed? Your testing should reveal whether the OS (XP, Vista, W7, W8 or W8.1) is significant, whether Windows Live Mail 2009 and 2011 are also affected.

We ordinary users just don't have the facilities for this kind of testing, but I would expect the support staff to be able to carry it out in a matter of minutes. There's a total of something like 20 OS/program version/IE update version variations to be tested.

I have my Win 8.1 laptop set to check for updates weekly so assume I am on the latest version of Livemail.  I have several MS Word documents which I use as templates with embedded hyperlinks.  For several years I have been able to cut and paste from Word docs into outgoing emails to save time.  About 10 days ago it started dropping the hyperlinks immediately a cut is pasted into the body of an outgoing Livemail message.  This is really annoying as it always used to work and now wastes more time than its worth.
