Windows Live Mail can not copy hyperlinks from one e-mail to another.

Hey all.

Long story short, I am writing this for my mother who current runs a dog boarding business as well as various other e-mail accounts, ranging from fan clubs to personal ones. She has a draft e-mail saved which contains information and links she would COPY and PASTE into e-mails prior to sending them. Essentially, these are signatures. No matter which signature she copies and pastes, each one has at least one weblink.

As of yesterday, when copying and pasting that information, the link does not copy with the text. Instead of pasting the text as a hyperlink, like she has been able to, it simply shows the text without any clickable option.

I have double checked the options, Read all messages in plain text is unticked, as well as the Mail Sending Format and News Sending Formation both being set to HTML.

Can anyone help please?

    I've had this problem for a few days.  I have various templates in MSWord which I cut and paste into emails.  Its worked well for years.  At first I thought the loss of hyperlink on "cut & paste" was because I'd changed some options in Windows Live Mail "Send," so I spent ages resetting them - all to no avail.

    Hello Microsoft - IT IS INCREDIBLY IRRITATING THAT IT NO LONGER WORKS!  Its very time consuming hand converting hyperlinks, never mind all the time I wasted trying to fix a problem caused by Microsoft.  Please fix ASAP

    I can confirm this behaviour, which seems to be of recent origin. A hyperlink copied from another mail message or from a Word document is not active when pasted into a new mail message.

    Here is an example, where the content of a received mail message (a notification from Microsoft Community) has been pasted into a new mail message. The top part shows the snippet as received, the bottom part shows it after pasting. It has been converted to Quoted-Printable ready for transmission; this means that equals signs ('=') within the markup are changed to '=3D' and line-ends are marked with equals signs.

    Note that the hyperlink reference (href) attribute of the anchor (a) tag has been moved within a style= attribute, rendering it useless:

    Exactly the same happens with hyperlinks copied from a Word document.

    I'll speculate that this conversion (HTML to CSS) is carried out by one or other of the Internet Explorer libraries. These were all updated by the installation of Internet Explorer 11, in your case on 14 November. If this is right, a lot of people will have to complain to persuade the IE product team to restore the previous behaviour. Perhaps the mods could find out for us.

    You could see whether the problem goes away if you uninstall IE11 using the function under View installed updates under Programs and features in Control Panel.

    Meanwhile, it's worth mentioning that hyperlinks in signatures seem not to be affected. Perhaps this would be a better and simpler way of inserting standard content into mail messages.

    Hello John M,

    I see that you updated IE 10 on the 13th and then upgraded to IE 11 on the 14th.

    I am still using IE 9.

    I wonder - - ? ? ?

    Same problem for me on Windows Live Mail 2012. I have all my templates including hyperlinks as Microsoft Word Documents. I did 5 e-mails fine and then suddenly it stopped working and has not worked since. Whereas there used to be underlined clickable blue phrases with hyperlinks, they are now only blue, not underlined and not clickable. 

    This is really annoying as I rely on this functionality to guide my customers to relevant information.

    Please sort this out Microsoft and not insinuate that it is something we have done when this functionality changed over the space of a few minutes from one e-mail to the next.
