Can't change lock screen on windows 8.1

I tried to change my lock screen in the photos app. First of all it took forever and finally I got a message that said can't change lock screen/make sure the file isn't damaged and try again. I tried this with five other pictures and I got the same thing each time. I then tried to change it in settings and the preview for the picture would not load at all.
HELP!!!

2014-04-24T20:00:34+00:00 I already tried doing what you suggest. It did not work for my system. After syncing the problem returned after a little time, which is why I tried the renamed folder option the way I did it. The renamed folder option seems to have fixed the problem for all users on the machine affected, both administrative and standard users.
Now, if I could just manage to get my custom drive icons to show up again, I would be happy as a clam. :-)

No problem. Hopefully it will work for anyone experiencing this. If it doesn't, there are other options to try in the thread. But, this one seemed the easiest.
