REFRESHING DOESN'T WORK. I tried it and I still have the same issue. I don't want to perform reset! I don't have the time to go through reinstalling everything all over again. That's an absolute pain. If there was a way to back everything up on Skydrive then I may consider it. Give me a better solution than complete reset!!!
Can't change lock screen on windows 8.1
I tried to change my lock screen in the photos app. First of all it took forever and finally I got a message that said can't change lock screen/make sure the file isn't damaged and try again. I tried this with five other pictures and I got the same thing each time. I then tried to change it in settings and the preview for the picture would not load at all.
HELP!!!

2014-02-18T19:58:31+00:00 I have the same issue on my original Surface Pro. I was using the Astronomy Picture of the Day app to set the lock screen. One day, the picture just stopped changing. I turned off the APOD lock screen feature and tried to change my lock screen from the personalize screen. But it won't preview the image and my lock screen stays the same. I uninstalled the APOD app, but that didn't fix it.
On another thread with this issue, the poster was using Facebook to se the lock screen. Because this ii's happening with two third-party apps, I think the issue is with Windows 8.1.
I have not refreshed since it didn't help the other user. I really don't want to have to reinstall Windows 8.1 and all my apps.
Please find us a real solution for this issue. It appears to be Windows 8.1 related. Here's a screenshot of my hung lock screen
preview.

2014-02-04T22:11:18+00:00 Can you provide me with another solution to fix this issue. I do not want to do a reset and lose all my applications. A system Resent isn't very helpful. there's no guarantee that it will solve this issue.

2014-02-04T20:00:09+00:00 To change the lock screen, open the Charms, then click Change PC Settings. Then you should be able to find the security section, and you can change it from there.
