Can't change lock screen on windows 8.1

I tried to change my lock screen in the photos app. First of all it took forever and finally I got a message that said can't change lock screen/make sure the file isn't damaged and try again. I tried this with five other pictures and I got the same thing each time. I then tried to change it in settings and the preview for the picture would not load at all.

HELP!!!

I'm having the exact same issue with my lock screen on my Surface Pro 2. It has windows 8.1 with latest update. It's been a week since the image hasn't changed. I've been using the daily wall paper app found in the windows app store, and the lock screen image hasn't changed.

I see the following on when I try to change the lock screen image:

As you can see, it's blank and when I try and select an image it just gives me the load screen.

    I've tried the following:

    - reinstall the daily wallpaper app

    • deleting the image on my lock screen from the picture file
    • performing  sfc/ scan now function as administer in command prompt along with a DSIM.exe /clean-image/scanhealth but all I received was:

"Deployment Image Servicing and Management tool

    Version 6.3.9600.16384

    Error:87

    The online/cleanup-image/scanhealth option is unknown.

For more info refer to DISM log file" and  etc.

Additionally, the sfc /scannow states that:

"Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them. Details are included in the CBS.Log" I tried opening the log in notebook but it didn't allow me.

I hope you can help me, I don't particularly want to make new profiles or accounts on my surface nor so I want to system restart my computer. Because I've got a lot of documents and apps on here. I hope you can help me.

    Regards,

    Chris K

    Hi Jordyn,

    1. Is Windows 8.1 activated?
    2. What is the make and model of the computer?
    3. Do you get the lock screen preview when you lock Windows 8.1?
    4. Do you get any error message when you try to change the lock screen?

Please check if Windows 8.1 is shown as activated.

    a. From Charms bar, click Settings, Change PC settings.

    b. Press PC & Devices, click **PC info.**Now, check if the Windows is activated.

Please provide us more information to help you better.

Same thing happened to me, I checked that windows 8.1 is active but it still just loads and no actual preview of the picture that is currently up (which I really really don't want up there anymore).
