"Windows can't open Add Printer. There are no more endpoints available from the endpoint mapper

I am experiencing a similar problem. I have an HP desktop and a Xerox Phaser 6300. After the upgrade to Windows 8.1, my apps cannot find any installed printers. The Xerox shows up in the device list, but I cannot use it, even to print a test page. I have downloaded the new driver, and tried to re-install, but when I try to open the Add Printer function, I get the following error message: "Windows can't open Add Printer. There are no more endpoints available from the endpoint mapper." I contacted Microsoft via phone, and the rep told me i needed to go back to Windows 8. HP tells me that if I do that, I will lose all my data and installed programs, including Microsoft Office. I do not want to go through all that again, the computer is only a few months old. Please help!

Open services.msc

Scroll down to Print Spooler and double click on it

Click on Dependencies tab

Check what dependencies the print spooler has, if any

you may need to click  "+" on those dependencies to see more dependencies

Go back to the Services list

On each of the spooler dependencies, double click on it

Make sure it is set to Automatic in the Startup Type drop down menu

Now click on Start to start the service

Click OK

    You listed the powershell command you used, however, what's the exact issue/error your experiencing?

    Thank you very much for your help. These are my errors: 

    Trying to add a printer manually: Windows cant open Add Printer. The local printer service is not running. Please restart the spooler or restart the machine.  (The spooler is on, by the way and turs off straight away after pressing the button "add printer)

    During installation of the actual printer driver: Operation could not be completed (error 0x000006d9) There are no more endpoints available from the endpoint mapper.

    The only cause of the inability to add or share printers with an endpoint mapper error is the Windows Firewall service not running and set to automatic.  

    EDIT:

    Looking back at your original post, it appears I made a mistake and misread your post... I know I came across a fix for the spooler issue when I was researching the endpoint mapper error earlier this year.  I may have bookmarked it, and if I can find the bookmark, I'll reply back with the weblink.

    The only bookmarked link I could find was this, however without knowing the exact error/issue you're experiencing, I'm not sure if it will help your or not.

    I like to help people, however, it's due to people like you that I stopped replying to people within Microsoft threads...

    This thread is ONLY 4 pages long... 4 pages.  It takes literally less than 5 minutes to skim all 4 pages, yet for some reason, you and others can't be bothered to read and then expect someone to take time out of their day and help you.  I don't believe it's too much to expect someone asking for help to read the information contained within a thread (especially when it's an extremely short thread) prior to asking a question.  It's the equivalency of taking a class and, half way through the semester, asking someone where the table of contents is for your textbook.

    You replied to Pradeep's post from over a year ago (who by the way has no clue about what they're talking about) when one of the 4 thread pages contains the answer to your problem not in one post, not in two posts, but a whopping THREE posts (two of which were by me, the latter of which addressing the same frustration with another user who can't be bothered to read).

    Please do everyone a favor... read.

    Unfortunately this solution did not work for me. Otherwise I wouldn't ask! I am checking now over 4 days every forum and tried everything. However, nothing works.
