Windows update KB2919355 fails to install - Error code 800F0922

Windows 8.1 Update for x64-based Systems (KB2919355)

Installation status: Failed

Error details: Code 800F0922

System got to 89% then said it couldn't complete the updates and that it would back out the updates.  15 minutes later, I'm back where I started.

Is it possible windows defender or other virus scanner blocked this update?

    If you are sure you have stopped the windows update service and still cannot rename the softwaredistribution folder, try renaming the downloads folder inside softwaredistribution and then continue with the instructions. This should have the same end result.

    I can't rename it because it's says the folder is being used.

    800F0922 ERROR SOLVED!!!

    Step 1: Deaktivate automatic update: type "sc stop wuauserv" in cmd (open as admin), press enter

    Step 2: Go to C:/Windows and rename the folder SoftwareDistribution to SoftwareDistributionBAK

    Step 3: Reaktivate automatic update: type "sc start wuauserv" in cmd (open as admin), press enter

    Step 4: Go to Windows Update in your settings and hit "check for updates now"

    Step 5: restart and watch the updates install without problems :D

    i hope this works for all of you. I tried a lot of different stuff, but this was by far the easiest (and only way) that worked! Good luck

    This problem is caused by Microsoft setting updates to use the Active partition instead of the System partition to install to. To resolve this, make sure your system drive is set as the active partition.

    This is just another in the long list of screw-ups by Microsoft. This only happens in Server 2012 and Windows 8. Makes you wonder, huh?
